I'm saving my money for the big shows in 2038..........
This summer, 97 year old Mike Love and The Beach Boys celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Kokomo, the biggest Beach Boys hit of all time.
During each special concert, America's Band will open with Kokomo, close with Kokomo and play it a few times in between. The encore will be......Kokomo, Barbara Ann, then Kokomo.
It's been rumored that 75 year old John Stamos will be in the band to play the bongos, just as he did in the iconic music video.
Also, as an opening act, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the greatest moment in TV history, the big screens will show the episode of the classic sitcom Full House when Mike, Bruce, Brian, Al, and Carl visited the Tanner family and sang an acoustic version of....you guessed it.....KOKOMO....on the Tanner family sofa.
During the 7th time The Beach Boys play Kokomo during the concert, they'll duet with the Tanner family via the big screen, thus creating an emotional moment each night, not dissimilar to when The Beach Boys played to videos of the late Dennis and Carl Wilson during their first 50th Anniversary tour 26 years ago.
At this time, Bob Saget has yet to confirm nor deny the rumor that he'll be on hand to do his classic one man version of Good Vibrations, as featured in the classic episode.
Mike was asked if he plans any more big tours. He responded, "well four years from now (2042) will mark the 50th Anniversary of the classic Beach Boys opus Summer in Paradise. I'll be 101, but it's gonna be fun, fun, fun."

How do you think Mike (and Bruce) turned down the invitation to this event? Serious question. Was there a mass email chain or group text which Mike (or an assistant) was copied on, and Mike didn't reply and was simply just a no-show? Or do you think he politely turned down the dinner? Man it had to be an awkward moment if he just snuck out after the final song and didn't say a word to anyone. I've heard of that type of stuff happening in other bands (like James Iha at the end of the final Smashing Pumpkins gig), and it seems like it would be hard to be received as anything but very hurtful by others.
Not that I really expect anyone on this board to know, or to honestly share...
If I'm not mistaken, Mike and Bruce had a show booked in the US just days after the last Beach Boys show. So they were probably going back to meet up with the band etc. Well Totten was at the dinner

As far as one party of BRI holding up a release, I suppose it is conjecture at this point. However, if it were to be the case, would we be correct in assuming that a majority vote needs to take place in terms of a touring license, but that a unanimous vote needs to take place to release an album?

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Odds of M&B on the Full House reunion series?

Truth be told I don't think M&B are relevant enough to appear on the new Full House. Remember back when the made their original appearance on the series, they were riding high with "Kokomo" and being a favorite of John Stamos, he brought them in and kept bringing them back time and time again. From what that article states, Stamos is going to be in the category of a "guest performer" himself on the new series so I can't imagine him having as much creative pull with the new show as he did with it's predecessor.
My favorite Beach Boys appearance on Full House was when they were playing "Kokomo" and Brian is very loud in the mix, singing falsetto, going, "Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya!" and then just kinda trails off, lyrically. Brian was never on Full House

"A little peek behind the scenes with Wink Martindale today answering your questions...stay tuned. Your next stop, the Vibe Room."

Possible double post
Hi Professor;
I called Brian last night to see if there was really anything to this. He said that he had already gotten a call on it , and told me that neither he , nor Al, knew anything about it. He kind of laughed and said that none of us can cut a record independantly and call it The Beach Boys anyway. Ray
Thanks so much! BTW, Ray, could you pleas PM me Brian's number, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Shady.
