OMG ! What a collection !

I think most interesting would be US-magazines from '67-'74 (from their beginning downfall to the comeback) and early 90s material. But in fact I probably should jump a plane and pay you a visit  Grin

You mean the pics of the boys were going to be the cover or the red cover with the L.A. sign ?

In my original meetings with the art department, the album was going to be a gatefold, with my photos laid out like postcards in the sand.  The liner sleeve was going to have the postcards with the song titles, with the time & credits underneath each card.
When they commissioned the individual artists for the cards, they paid such incredibly high fees to the artists that they felt they could only justify the costs by making the postcards the cover itself - or so I was told...  (Another in a long line of disappointments for me in Beach Boy land)  I was so pissed about this that I didn't give them the finished group photo that's on the flipside of the liners; (the one where Brian is looking off to the side).  I had given this picture, along with another shot with Brian looking towards the camera, to my airbrusher back in those pre-Photoshop days.  He also took sections of ivy to replace the fence behind Brian.  The record company at least took my idea & removed the ivy, to reuse the picture for a Japanese single of "Here Comes the Night": http://paradise-records.ocnk.net/product/1072  I'd never even seen this until it was used in a collage at the beginning of The Silver Anniversary book by John Milward - and still to this day don't have a copy.

Really really nerdy question, ED, but do you have any pictures of Dennis' gear from over the years. Being an (attempted at least) drummer/singer myself, Dennis just endlessly fascinates me. Were the kits he used his own? Did he seek them out for specific reasons. Just any pics of his gear, and of him playing the drums, I could never see enough of. His technique is rarely talked about for a player who had such a powerful/solid sound, therefore I try and glean whatever tidbits possible from pics.

I don't think that sounds nerdy. I would like to see that kind of pictures too. Also of Carl and his guitars

I can't wait to read it. Congratulations for finishing it !

I have to disagree about Brian seeming fairly "normal" or ok in this.

Well, I guess I'm hardened.... Grin
I just meant that his answers were not as crazy and nervous as at other times. But from his looks, yeah, you're right of course

Sounds good to me ! Would have loved to see it that way....

Thank you! Never saw this. And although sick, Brian seems quite normal.....
7684  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian in Toronto - 6/18/11 on: August 02, 2011, 10:33:17 AM
BTW there are some leads that were given to band members. "Darlin'" "DWB" "TIKH" "WIBN" "SOS"... whose idea was that? Brian's ? I can't imagine someone telling him "Hey, you don't sound that good. I'm gonna singt it from now on"
7685  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Merchandise at reunion concert on: August 02, 2011, 10:30:43 AM
Could we possibly get postcards of the L.A. album cover pictures?

Also, a t-shirt promoting MIU, perhaps with "Our Team" on the back listing the band members/tour members?

There was also a limited edition picture disc of my liner photos fo L.A.Light, (which originally were going to be the cover itself as postcards), and I just found one available on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/BEACH-BOYS-ORIGINAL-PICTURE-DISC-L-A-LIGHT-ALBUM-/400116065041
A little pricey, to say the least!

Actually the Beach Boys appeared on Stamos' short-lived sitcom with Jack Klugman in the mid-80's. Show was called You Again?.  Don't know if this was their first meeting.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCHPlAwBVZE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

You Again was 1986.  Stamos was actually with the group onstage (not sure if he guest drummed or not, although I do know that Mr. T DID) on July 4, 1985 in Philadelphia and Washington D.C.  This may have been his first appearance with the BB's, not sure. Also not sure why I know this...
According to Mike Love, that was indeed his first show with the band. Stamos' entree into the group was provided by Jeffrey Foskett, who was then playing with the BBs and had been Stamos' roommate.

I just don't want there to be essentially 3 "Brian" songs, 3 "Mike" songs, 3 "Al" songs, and 2 "Brucies". I guess what I'm saying is i hope they don't play politics, and just try to get their best music out there that they can.

I totally agree ! In fact this is the utopian thinking that all my reunion hopes are built on

The next person that has the chance to talk with Mike at a concert should tell him that they really don't need to make any plans because we have it all done on this message board. They only have to follow our plan.
