JIm went to university in Florida, and in L.A. he lived rough on the beach for a while. How could he avoid the music of the BBs? It must have been a constant presence.
I remember a quote in which he said that the Beach Boys were the reason he came to California. Anyway: Morrison's 1966 Elektra bio
FAVORITE SINGING GROUPS: Beach Boys, Kinks, Love INDIVIDUAL SINGERS: Sinatra, Presley Frank Lisciandro, a very close friend of Morrison, said this: But Jim really, really loved the Beach Boys, and he loved Elvis. After that he goes on about how they went to a Elvis-show in Miami in 1970

If that's true, I just hope they're not re-hashing old hits.
just a thought: do you believe that they had enough time to write new songs (and that's what Mike wants to do with Brian) ? Personally I don't think so. So if this is true I have a bad feeling about it I'm sharing this thought/fear, actually. But wouldn't it be nice if they used some new songs... Of course. It would be nice if they for one time could do something right. But it's the gosh darn Beach Boys....

I thought the meeting with Elvis and the fake karate chop happened in 1969.
I know Brian was at RCA in 1976 (I saw him) but don't think he was there to see Elvis.
'75 while Elvis was recording "Pieces of my life" for his "Today"-album. Great interview ! So many funny answers. I love it !!

Well, if this is true then I think a last Beach Boys-concert would be a very nice way to end his stage carreer. Of course he'll might keep on recording and releasing records but even if this is the last thing we heard from Brian, he deserves it. Even not talking about what he gave the world and what he went through, he's getting old. That's life.

The "glue" holding it all together, on nearly every track, is Brian's detuned piano. His sense of drive and rhythm on that piano throughout most of Wild Honey's tracks is an overlooked element: The guy was awesome on piano and this album needed his piano to hold the rhythms together.
Every time I hear the album I remember how much I love hearing Brian grooving away at that detuned piano.
Indeed, Brian had/has a fantastic feel for rhythm.

but I heard a live show in Seattle and it sounded like a pretty good audeince.
I don't think that counts because people who went to a Beach Boys concert probably also were fans or at least interested in them. One has to concentrate on ticket sales, magazine articles, etc It's really strange that they were as big as anyone in the UK but the US didn't notice or didn't want to
