Ok, thanks. Wasn't sure si I guessed because I didn't wanna go back and look on ebay again. BTW if you are looking for that 1970 Sunflower-programme, I think I've seen it there too so it could be a chance for you. Would love to have that poster. In fact, there are so many cool pictures in those books, which I all liked to have as posters

Remember that Brother Entertainment did not have the distribution and marketing resources of Capitol, Warner's or CBS. A perfect way to let the public know that you have new product, while also getting paid to do so. Seems like a good business decision to me.
Sure but c'mon, we are talking about the Beach Boys and lower fat margarine. There must've been more tasteful ways to promote your stuff

BEAUTIFUL !!! The in-studio-shots are fantastic !! Really, someone should make a book with the programmes all together. EDIT: In case anybody's interested, I just saw that there are some early 60s programmes on ebay. Don't know if they are originals but they look good. This one from '69 is one of those I've saw. It's the programme with a poster:

Oh boy, talk about taste when you gotta sell your new album with Cocoa Butter or promote your concerts with lower fat margarine.... Fascinating reminders of the time the Beach Boys reached an absolute lowpoint. Thanks for posting !

What fantastic picture books. They show the Beach Boys as a vital rockband. Wish I could've have some of those books. The outside is another story, I don't think the artwork is very well. Thanks again Smile Holland !

But did anyone ever think about the easiest answer? Maybe a string on Carl's guitar broke and he didn't have any new ones with him. Jon explained why Brian and Al might not have had their gear with them
You'd have to assume then that the fill-in guitarist Mr. Tamblyn that night knew the songs the Beach Boys were going to play well enough to back them up. It would be easier to assume Carl could have borrowed another guitar to play the songs, but that remains to be seen. Of course you're right, but being a guitarist myself, I might not be very happy to lend my guitar (especially if it's a expensive one) to a teenager. And since "Surfin'" and the early stuff really isn't hard to play, he might just have said that he will do it for them. Maybe that's something Adam should ask him.....

Was looking for another picture and came across these. Some of them I've never seen before
You "Come Across" a lot of really cool BBs pics. You must have some great secret places to look, cuz I never happen on great pics of Dennis like those. Thanks. I mostly just type in "Dennis Wilson" (for example) and search via google image-search. That leads one to some cool sites sometimes.

What about the others? Would love to see the one of Brian.... Brian could be from the gatefold picture of the group from Spirit Of America album.
I think Rocker meant the photo that looks like the Brian pose( above). I don't see that one in SOA( at least in my copy) Yes, that's what I meant

Re: The instruments-thing: First, yes, I could see the BBs perform as a vocals only group. They probably sang Surfin' and then some standards like Their Hearts Were....,etc. maybe even one of Murry's tunes (just speculation). Of course this would not be at an event for teenagers, but I don't think they played only that kind of stuff But did anyone ever think about the easiest answer? Maybe a string on Carl's guitar broke and he didn't have any new ones with him. Jon explained why Brian and Al might not have had their gear with them

Bwahahahaha. Does that mean that a Cirque de Soleil production would be right out? Pet Sounds to contortionists and clowns? c'mon. I like the Love-CD quite a bit but after hearing what they did to Presley's music I'm very disbelieving they would do a good BBs-show (well, the show might be good but the music....you know what I mean)

Where did they go to get mugs of root beer that big, with perfect heads? Chug a Lug! Looks like everyone save Brian, got two. COOL PICS!! Munich. That's a Maß, which is one liter of beer. You get the best beer in Germany I should mention.... Looks like Dennis is holding two.... EDIT: For your next Oktoberfest, be sure to get one of these: Guess I could use one right now.....

Can't give any info but if there's such a button out there I wanna have one !! Think it's the funniest thing in the BBs history !! Would love to have a t-shirt with that slogan. Could become a new trend....
