Cool observation on Lady Lynda. In a somewhat lower register than Brian E normally sings leads, certainly shows a new character to his voice, and yes fairly Carl-like. I wonder how he would sound on Long Promised Road.
Although I love Darian's Darlin', I don't think Jeff has sounded better on many other songs.
Some nice memories.

Pet Sounds instrumental guitar through Leslie (is the You're So Good To Me guitar also played through a Leslie?)
With reference to the sound used both on BWPS and the God Only Knows remake of the What Love Can Do era, a less aggressive sounding harpsichord patch would be good (not to open up the old "fake harpsichord" debate).
There are so many fantastic organ sounds (were they all Hammond up to around the end of 1966?) to mention; SUSA, Good Vibrations (more than one in that song alone, some virtual instruments do come with a Good Vibrations patch, I think), Here Today, That's Not Me, in fact most of Pet Sounds album...even the guitar sounds have something quite unique about them from song to another...
Resident experts like Joshilyn have invested so much time to get pretty close to many of these sounds, might the EW people struggle to get close to some of them even with their resources? Perhaps they could with the help of Joshilyn and others.
Given that EW own the legendary studio in which so many of these great sounds were created, seems a no-brainer that they should create a library of this kind, even if it is for a more general west coast 60s theme rather specifically Beach Boys. Is the Fab Four set the only one of its kind? A little odd that EW produced that rather than Abbey Road themselves.

I should also add that only commenting on that sentence does a disservice to what was an interesting post, along with others on the topic (Joshiliyn et al).
I am reminded of a quote I saw many years ago, which was contemporary to the period in which the concert hall acoustics were first imprinted on classical recordings (after the acoustic era perhaps), and where a commentator of the time was questioning the authenticity of such practices. I think it would have been in the Greg Milner book if you have read that.
It would also be interesting to know from Mark L the extent to which they do have the headphone generation in mind when working on this stuff; it is surely unlikely that headphones are anything more than a secondary reference whilst he is doing the work.

We'd been told several times since the new year that the box set was on track.
That Mike is touring a Feel Flows tour really adds nothing to what we knew.
It is at least an improvement on Mike's flat out denial during our despondent phase.

I'm surprised it took this long for this to finally hit the news. Now that this is public knowledge, this can hopefully help to contextualize some of the the goings-on in the recent past and going forward.
This is directly related to the circular firing squad episode?

It is hard to imagine how inspired a new album with or without the guys in the same room could be in these circumstances. We live in hope, first for everyone's health and comfort, and secondly for any more gifts they may be able to give, no matter how unlikely.

There has been the odd social media post during the last few years showing him singing in the studio or something like that and I’m not sure that the outcome of all those sessions has been revealed. It does seem that he has been less active more recently though in fact I’m not sure how long ago the last post of this kind was.

Reports on Endless Harmony that there was an offer for a 60th anniversary album. I asked, was Brian and Al’s refusal related to the circular firing squad episode that then held up Feels Flows.
I have little doubt that Brian and Al considered the stress of dealing with a bandmate with narcissistic personality disorder, and decided against it. Who needs that kind of stress when pushing 80? Not them. Mike has burned all of his bridges. Certainly not surprising that Al and Brian were not keen, given what has gone down in recent years. In case I was not clear, my reason for posting in this thread was just to wonder out loud if there was any link between 60th anniversary discussions and the previous Feels Flows hold up. Hey Jude has said that the reason that was used for the hold up shouldn't logically affect a Feel Flows release.
