This quickie contemplates the change from <break> to <broke> in the Boys' version of "SJB". One way to resolve an impossible combination of letters arrived at by reversing a word is to question them:*
No net timbre? Break a sloop now! (Broke 'em, John.) Ho, J. Meek orb won pools, aka E.R.B. (E.R.B.?). Mitten on!
* Another is to make those letters stand for something, as in >Fresno's up at southern air, Marat. Author Ian R., eh? Trondheim, i.e., HD. Northern air: oh tuatara! Mr Ian R., eh? T.U.O.S. (tap us on, serf)<

There may not be a photo of all nine Beach Boys together but this sprawling mess of a 'drome goes some way towards compensating for that omission by combining all of their surnames. As always, <Wilson> was the problem name to reverse, hence the play with L and XL...
Emu Love? I'm a Johnston! (Knits Rex if Fataar rub a kook.) Nil? Pah! Choose no Marks, Alfred. No Wilson I.D., Enid. "Raja Hostel" big? XL! ("King Nik LX Giblets".) Oh... a Jardine! ("Dino's"? L!) I wonder-flask Ramones. Ooh, Chaplin kookaburra at affixer's tin knots. Ho, Jamie----volume!

First, it's time to go have a hamburger with baked beans for dinner. Smells good in the kitchen. It's been a simple Saturday. Maybe some snow by midnight.
Hi, Will. Good to hear you're doing fine. We've had some snow too, in the Netherlands----about an hour's drive from here. Darn it, now you've got me feeling hungry...!

Fascinating. And thanks for sharing it over here, cap'n. :=) I'm closer to the generation of your parents so my problem before anything else was the Generation Gap ("howling apes bashing guitars"). Maybe the UK was never that prone to such religion-related matters anyway (perhaps Beelzebub couldn't be in two places at once). White Magic and Black Magic were in vogue for a while (bluesman Graham Bond's dabblings in the latter may have brought about his (alleged) suicide ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Bond) but was never more than a fringe phenomenon.

I don't like horses as animals. Seeing that gif wasn't good. I like cats! But may I ask who do you talk about? I don't rmbr such username "the Horse". It's SS poster bringahorseinhere? (He leaves off the ? at PSF). A fine gentleman whom I found myself agreeing with on many occasions. And now he's back in circulation. :=)

They have added Glasgow, Scotland on May 26th 2017. I'm a little disappointed that I am the first to post this info (I think) here and on the other board.
I heard from a friend, not a big fan, at lunchtime by which time a lot of good seats were gone.
I just happened to notice AGD's mention across the road of a local show and managed to get two pretty good seats (as I reported in the 2016 tour topic). Sorry you found out about the Glasgow gig so late...

Re: "Finnegan's Wake", as I understand it, the title in the cover is what frightened you? Does the story have elements of horror? I just googled it & it doesn't seem visually scary to me. Do I miss sth.?
Looking at the title reminds me of what an intense read everyone says it is. That's the only thing that's scary about it. This is someone's annotated version of the very first page:

John K, thumbs up for the neutrality. I also went into Mike's book with a neutral position, for the same reason. And then the book ended up being hurled across the room a few times with cries of exasperation, LOL. But if you're able to maintain a neutral position regardless, then I tip my hat to you, sir. I'l keep you posted. In the meantime, Finnegans Wake has somehow relocated from its upright position on a shelf in the hallway and is now lying on my desk. H'mm.

Right now I have Mike's book ogling me from a bedroom shelf. It's been there for weeks. I suspect I just have to pluck up enough courage to open it and start reading and it'll be okay. As long as I finish it before June, when I'm attending a concert by Mike, Bruce and the lads...
John K, I've been thinking about the best course of action for you, LOL. Read the book, get mad at Mike, be mad at Mike at the concert, but then maybe the concert eases the anger. Or go to the concert, enjoy the concert fully, then read the book and get mad at Mike... I don't know which is better! But SCZ, I have no bone to pick with Mike. I wasn't there, as a wise friend puts it. I'm sure the book and the concert will be fine----in that order. But perhaps you were only joking. ;=)

The Eva Cassidy version of Autumn Leaves. She has been gone for many years and I just Discovered her a few months ago while listening to random stuff on Pandora. I can't recall when I Was last so moved by a piece of music upon first listen. I have been going back to it almost daily. You may have heard this before but if not, and you love the music discussed on this board, you should check it out.
Thanks, donald. That is really beautiful. My favourite out of what I've heard from Ms Cassidy so far is Sting's "Fields Of Gold": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UVjjcOUJLE

I've started Ulysses a few times over the past 17 years. I'm no longer optimistic, and removed the bookmark last time I rearranged my bookshelves.
I've actually read Ulysses. Jesus, what a broth of a book! Finnegans Wake is another matter. Just looking at the title on the front cover scares the sh*t out of me. It probably doesn't help that mine's a cheapo copy and the paper stinks.

Great topic there, SCZ. I used to devour books in years gone by but I can't seem to finish anything these days. Reader's block. Sudokus, crossword puzzles and palindromes are my lot...
