i posted this earlier today and i DEFINITELY thought there was something very odd about that photo. extremely unrealistic.

I can imagine the real Brian taking a look at this photo and going into some kind of catatonic fit similar to what happened in '67 when David Anderle showed Brian the painting he (David) made of him.

Now THAT is a touched up picture.

 ;D This picture scares me too.. but at the same time I am strongly reminded of the moment someone showed me the cover of 'Imagination'. Out of sheer humoristic reflex, I said to my acquaintance: 'hey, nice, that must be Brian Wilson's son!'

You are wrong. Going to sleep as a man and waking up as a woman isn't half as bad as looking at the photo above.

Guess that I'll just have to take your word for it, since I don't know firsthand. ;)

It all looks like Dr. Melinda Frankenstein's work to me.  I doubt Brian gives a turd about having his tips frosted.   And that big phony smile he's been wearing in every pic lately is starting to wear a bit thin.

That's probably why he tours so much, to get away from Melinda and her herd of dogs for a couple hours at a time while onstage.

It looks like they took one picture of the top part of his head, and another picture of the bottom and photoshopped them together. The problem  is, the anatomy doesn't look quite right. A dead giveaway is the skin tone change right under his nose across the face, and his ears look touched up.

Looks like a rather unconvincing denture adhesive commercial to me.

The irregular pigmentation would support the Michael Jackson theory.

Great call, for 2 reasons: the portrait is great and honest, and a deluxe book by Schöller (with all these photos in large format) is available at a sales shop (new) at a ridiculous price in my town. Almost forgot about it, thanks!

Furthermore: I have a Rolling Stone jubilee edition with a portrait by Matthew Rolston. Portrait photography as good as it gets. Brian looks uncomfortable, to say the least, as he stares at some undefined point in the long distance.

And I recall British magazine Vox (1995) carrying great stuff by a Belgian photo-artist, with Brian being pictured by way of a laughing mirror (or so it looks).

I hope I kept all this stuff.

Yep. That's one ways we know what a mix of drugs BW was on. As I recall, BW had to go off everything he was taking to be stable to go under, and the doc was horrified at what Landy had him taking.

Apparently Brian had an operation on a crushed cheekbone (and one can assume possibly had a lift at the same time).

Also, he said he experienced the worst pain of his life after being taken off his meds in 1989...

I knew about the lift, and I knew about the crushed cheekbone(ouch!), but forgot exactly what had caused it.

I'm also pretty sure he had surgery to remove excess skin from the weight loss around '85-'86.  There is a TV performance before BW88 (I'll have to get look it up to remind me of which one) where you can see the tightness and a little stitching on his neck.

No wonder he was the "front man." The guys in the band didn't want to have to look at him.
