General Bootleg Question
«
on:
August 29, 2010, 04:28:56 PM »
I notice that alot of the same BB Bootlegs have the same music on them. So my question is what BB bootlegs do you consider essential? Are there a few bootlegs that have certain music you can't get on other bootlegs?
Thanks for all your help

Around these parts, we have no idea what you're talking about, as bootlegs are frowned down upon. However, if you choose to

I realized you couldn't post links or tell people where to find bootlegs, but I didn't realize you couldn't even talk about them. Whats the difference between talking about unreleased songs you've heard and then talking about the "album" there own?

You are correct, sir. Stop be so paranoid, Million Units!
Nearly every bootleg has something unique, sadly. However, if you got the Dumb Angel series, and Archaeology you might be all set. Possibly with Get the Boot as well. Oh, and you can never have enough Smile bootlegs, of course

All This Is That on the Sea of Tunes label is a good one to get. The Garage Tapes is a must.

Get the Boot is fun, maybe not essential but stuff you've always wanted to hear that you've read about for years

One of the highlights(at least for me) is the original version of Oh Darlin' that has the original lead vocal from Brian. The lyrics are also quite different.

True - I would have thought all the same BB boots would have exactly identical music on them.

The Dumb Angel stuff is great. Get the Boot has some good stuff.
The unplugged/box live set from 93 is a must have. A lot of the SOT stuff just drives me nuts after awhile with all of the takes. But excellent quality and good stuff if you are making a comp along the lines of a Hawthorne.

The version of Love Remember (although not great sound quality) sounds a little different with the drum effects, it sounds very 80s influenced (although it predates that decade/genre)
my favs from this boot are:
Time to get Alone track
Won't You Tell Me (really good vocals)
Had to Phone Ya track
the Love You rarities included
BTW, what is Where We Are?

Damn some of my Boots have some misleading info on them. At least I'm streetwise enough to realise that California Music's version of "Jamacia Farewell" was not a
Holland
outtake as claimed on one of them!!
