Hey, just wanted to point everyone in the direction of the new Tribute Album that Rocker put together with help from 10 performers and who knows what. Always great to hear new recordings of these old Beach Boy chestnuts! Check it out http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,7740.80.html

Thanks SJB!  I had a lot of fun recording it...I mostly made it to try out my new Strat, which is why there's no vocals.  But I think that adds a 60s lounge music quality to it.

Downloading the album now; looking forward to hearing the other tracks!

Wild Honey sounds as if it's sung by Brian in 1975. Great.

Great job you guys. Awesome.  I really loved That Special Feeling.  I always loved that tune. What is the lyric supposed to be ..."underneath the "what is it?" tree? I could never figure that out.

Melt Away was awesome too.

There is alot of talent on this board.

It's a great little collection, i'm still dissecting all the tracks.

Thanks to those who enjoyed my rendition of 'That Special feeling'. I wanted to do a song which had potential but ultimately was never realised.

Not really sure what a Kumani tree is, I figure that Brian knows it's significance....

Loved the tribute, guys. Farmers Daughter and My Diane were my faves but it was really well done. Hopefully i'll be able to help out on the next one.

The realization of "That Special Feeling" is my favorite too, especially the verse that begins at 1:25 - really a nice surprise! Matt-zeus, can't you take on more unfinished BW songs and do the same? "Walkin'", "I'm Begging You Please", the 69/70 version of "Back Home" perhaps?  Smiley

Must also mention that the version of "Our Sweet Love" is what that song would've sounded like had it been recorded for Smiley Smile... which of course is a compliment.  Smiley

YOur version of that Special Feeling makes me want to add it to a fan edit of the Beach Boys Love You album, it totally fits

Me too! Although mines a bit of a cheat, i just weld the 'sorry baby, i guess it's time to go' from 'Sherry She Needs Me' onto it at the start, middle and for some big fade - thinking it could be a decent duet that way if you had a woman singing that part. I do love 'Beggin' You', it's so frustrating the way he stops himself on the demo.

Yeah, well Mr. Brigadier here uses a small vocal melody from "Good Time" on his cover at 2:36, followed by a low bass part that sounds a lot like a part on "Pacific Ocean Blue". We oughta boycott this guy!

(of course I'm joking, I actually thought those were nice touches)

Like the guitar solo playing a melody line from "HELP Is On The Way", right?  Smiley

Alright, I listened more closely to the ending of Special Feeling, at first the vocal sounds like the end of This Whole World then it turns into vocals from Good Time, then the Mike bass/backing vocals from POB (song) and finally, a purposely out of tune Getcha Back vocal
