... for Christmas - excellent, as is to be expected from such a fine scribe but damn, did it give me pause for thought several times. More than once, I stopped reading and thought "that's me".  Shocked

Relevance, OT-ness ?  The male lead is obsessed with a legendary musical icon. The descriptions of him, the other fans and especially the internet community are just... scary.

Art imitates life. Smiley

Sounds like a sort of "unofficial" sequel to Glimpses.

So are some of the descriptions in the book's reviews on amazon.com!

Really? I quite enjoy lenghty discussions about the musical merits of a barely audible fart from Mike Love during the 357th and dismissed outtake of Good Vibrations. It makes me feel... so... alive!

This musical icon is Brianesque?

The subject of Mr. Hornby's latest is not nearly as high profile as Brian. He's a late 70s/80s singer-songwriter in the mode of Dylan or Springsteen, but with the fanbase of, say, Steve Forbert! Nonetheless, Hornby's take on internet rumors, trolls, message board flamers, etc. is spot on.

No. That was the Super Information Highway. An inconvenient truth, but true nonetheless.
