Does Brian play bass on 15 big ones?

The answer lies in the song by song credits. Try reading them. Old Man

Are they posted anywhere, or does one have to purchase them?

They were initially 'posted' on the back of the original album sleeve in 1976, then again in 1991 on the CD reissue, and again in 2001 on the 2nd CD reissue.

Failing your having the albums (and if not, why not ?), try the excellent Album Liner Notes site at http://albumlinernotes.com/15_Big_Ones_Love_You.html

Surely Bgas will have 15BOs… wouldn't be surprised if he has umpteen international pressings including the other Tibetan green vinyl pressing with the long version of Rock n' Roll Music!

Really, the book isn't that bad until you get to the first appearance of Landy - and then for the rest of the way it just flat out insults the reader's intelligence.

Are there any decent shots of the April-Oct '63 sextet worth checking out?

Beg to differ: the first part consists largely of Todd Gold taking other people's articles uncredited and either slightly rewriting them, or putting other people's words - Hal Blaine, Steve Desper to name but two - into 'Brian's' mouth. That's plagiarism any way you slice it, and to any author, that's insulting.

I can see your point, all I meant was that there is a decidely marked point in this book where you realise you've just been had!

Not a question but still insignificant.

Yesterday I was playing Draw Something with my mom and the word was "wrinkles". I was thisclose to drawing a dead dog. The only thing that stopped me was the fact that my mom wouldn't get it at all. Now I've been chuckling all morning thinking about a little phone drawing of '80s Mike Love crying.

I exaggerated. My Own Story is not the only Beach Boys related book at libraries. Catch A Wave is pretty ubiquitous. That's a good thing. But when they spend so much of there goddmn budget on every single f***ingbookeverwrittenon the Beatles( I don't wanna step on any toes here, seeing as how Mr. Carlin's McCartney book was quite a good read), I guess I shouldn't expect too much. Sorry state of affairs for America's band in America's land. It does not make me sad... I do feel like a silly elf, though.Shocked
Well I've not bought every Beatles book with my budget, so hopefully my book will be legit.  Wink

has anybody noticed the H&V backing track on BWPS is much closer to the verse remake on TSS than the verse used for the finished one/the fragment provided on disc 2?

Are there any recordings (audience or otherwise) for any of Brian Wilson's Gershwin concerts?  I've never come across any.

Caveat: I'm not asking for them, just wondering if there are any recordings.

Yeah, I did. As much as I love the original backing track, I wish Brian would have overdubbed some vocals to the March remake.

I think it was Jon Stebbins (if not, forgive me) who said the longest time the group worked on one song, ostensibly from initial gestation to release, was "Time To Get Alone" at three years. What was the shortest time for a song? I guess something from the '63-64 days?

I think I read somewhere that the recording of Don't Back Down was rather quick, despite the fact that the early take released on the twofer is very different to what ended up getting released.

One of the most insulting things I've seen regarding this book is the reprinted edition with the cover highlighting Carl's face as the book's subject...the horror !

back around the time of Wild Honey, did Brian think that becoming a father was the best way to get him out of his mental slump? It sort of made sense at the time as it would entail him focusing less on music and drugs and more on being a parent.

Being a parent terrified him iirc - reckoned he would be a bad parent to the extent where he became.... A bad parent!

well i don't like to judge people by calling them bad parents but wouldn't he have tried hard not to have any children until he got his act together? In an alternative history, he married a 20 something year old in the 90s (instead of Melinda) and has children then instead.

Why does so many people hate Jeffrey Foskett?

Comes off a little creepy, grating falsetto that'd probably be bettered by Christian Love/Matt Jardine, rumoured to sign autographs posing as Brian, sings "bacon, bacon" instead of "bygone, bygone", doesn't like Love You etc. etc.

I think Bruce's falsetto is way better than his too.

Now let's name one of the good things about him: has been probably the central source of stability for Brian on stage that has allowed him to consistently perform in front of large audiences for more than a decade.

Bruce has a falsetto? Wouldn't have known it at the London shows.
