We've all got songs you wished were put on one album or another and were left off for a reason or another, mostly because they're unfinished, what 10 tunes do you wished would have been completed for an album or just for the song's sake?

1. Lonely Days
2. Walk on By
3. I'm Going Your Way
4. Wouldn't it Be Nice to Live Again
5. Sandy
6. Back Home (original on Surfer Girl)
7. In the Back of My Mind (remake)
8. A time To Live in Dreams
9. Sail Plane Song
10. California Feeling

Well I'm sure there are plenty more that I can't think of right now, but I would say (in no particular order):

1. WIBNTLA
2. I'm Going Your Way
3. Thank Him
4. Won't You Tell Me
5. Stevie
6. How's About A Little Bit Of Your Sweet Loving
7. Life Is For The Living
8. Still I Dream Of It
9. It's Over Now
10. I've Got A Friend

Not including SMiLE and in no order:
1. Lonely Days
2. Sail Plane song (Love to hear a full arrangement of that)
3. Sandy (1965 backing track with a 1965 Brian, NOT a 1975 Brian  Afro)
4. Barbara (to hear that with strings...wow!)
5. A Time to Live in Dreams
6. Sunflower version of Back Home (Actually, combine the Surfer Girl and Sunflower arrangements together.)
7. California Feeling (Pamplin arrangment...without Pamplin  Cheesy)
8. Lines (redo it. I hate that repetitive ending. Make a middle eight with a big instrumental brass section)
9. Out in the Country
10. Walkin'

That's the problem, there are just so many good/decent unreleased songs out there. How about You're Still A Mystery, Carry Me Home, It's A New Day, Soul Searchin', My Solution etc..

1. Michael Row The Boat Ashore
2. It's Over Now (featuring Brian and Marilyn!)
3. Can't Wait Too Long
4. a fully produced, well sung version of "Still I Dream Of It", in the "Midnight's Another Day" mode
5. Someone To Love
6. Brian (with different lyrics, love the melody)
7. that song that appeared on the A & E documentary that we thought was "Pattycake" but is actually another song; the one when they show that great picture of Brian and Bruce talks about it being "No. 1 in Brian's living room".
8. That Special Feeling
9. Mike Come Back To L.A.
10. any Spector cover, maybe "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling"

I started to make a list, but I was mostly just listing anything and everything not completed/finished for Smile. Other than that...

"Still I Dream of It"
"It's Over Now"
"Can't Wait Too Long"
"It's Trying to Say"
etc. etc. etc.

I always thought It's Over Now and Still I Dream Of It WERE completed. I thought that most of the Adult/Child album was pretty much complete.

Same thing with the 1963 Back Home. It sounds pretty perfect as it is. All it needs is a proper fade out.

Dunno about WIBNTLA: definitely want to hear it, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one was finished/completed at the time. But then again, I think many of the songs in these (and my) lists were completed.

1. Hard Times (the Chaplin/Fataar composition)
2. We Got Love (well... was finished - and even released, albeit accidentally (in Germany) - but they could've done a better job with it)
3. I'm Goin'  Your Way
4. I've Got A Friend
5. Carry Me Home
6. My Solution
7. It's A New Day
8. Walkin'
9. Lookin' Down The Coast
10. Don't Fight The Sea

Really it's easier to pick top ten songs you wish were used. Heck I think most of the albums have at least one outtake better then what was used. As far as Smiley goes it was a whole album. I like Smiley but c'mon.

Trombone Dixie was unfinished? Did it have unused lyrics or something? My vote would have to go to Out in the Country. I've been tempted to try my own version on GarageBand.

What boot....outtake etc is Out in the Country on?   I have heard a LOT of the bits and pieces fromover the years but don't believe I have that one.  It would be neat to put together a comp with the Redwood/BB connection to include this and the stuff that wound up on BB albums.

(we can talk boots but not engage in trading or selling ...right?)

I agree, I assumed much of the Adult Child songs were complete, mostly the big band tunes

I really liked how 'Sail Plane Song' is minimal, it would have fit perfectly with Smiley Smile or Friends. I don't think it could have been anymore completed, I mean look at Loop de Loop Thud

I agree Jonas, I like the organ and such....and Mike's not involved....I just wished whatever finishing touches BW thought it "needed" would have been made to make it to an album....kinda show the world where Brian Wilson really was

Odd... most odd... the way people nominate songs that are manifestly completed ("Michael Rowed The Boat Ashore", or "(Wouldn't It be Nice To) Live Again"*), or were always intended as demos ("Sail Plane Song" - which was also finished - it's called "Loop De Loop").
