I see where Al will be returning to the stage , in the city where he recorded one of his best albums, LAS VEGAS!
Will he be selling his new album there?

He can't sell it if it hasn't been released yet...

Maybe he'll give away free copies at the show, like Prince or Coldplay !
Id like to think Al is like that.

Hello Astroray (and any knowledgable others),

After having checked The Beach Boys fan club tour dates page, Al Jardine's website, ticketmaster etc;  I don't see any Vegas dates for Al.  Help a brother out - What venue and when please?

I was going to go see Mike and Bruce on May 23-24 at Mandalay Bay (I've seen them there before - great venue to see the Boys - nothing like being in the water splashing around while hearing the songs of summer...)  but I am already seeing Mike and Bruce in Windsor (twice) in July and in Edmonton in
August.  I have only seen Al a couple times and would love to see his show again.

Now if only Brian would announce some North American summer shows...

Summertime is time to go see a Beach Boy or two live...

Won't last forever...it's kinda sad

Wow!  That's Al's busiest week in years!  Hopefully the GMA appearance will help him get more dates.  I think that this is his first TV appearance with the Endless Summer Band?  Does anyone know of any others?

I'm hoping that all these dates will be in support of his album which has been rumored to be released this summer.  Time will tell.

Al Jardine Announces Solo Summer Dates
By: Howie Edelson

Beach Boys cofounder Al Jardine has announced a string of summer dates -- including a high profile stop on ABC's Good Morning America on On July 20th.

Jardine is gearing up for the release of his first solo album, called A Postcard From California. Apart from cameos by fellow Beach Boys co-founders Brian Wilson, Mike Love, and David Marks, the album also includes contributions from David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, America, Flea, and Steve Miller. No release date has been announced for the set.

Al Jardine tour dates (subject to change):
July 18 - Las Vegas, NV - Cannery Casino Hotel
July 21 - Massapequa, NY - John Burns Park
July 22 - New York, NY - The Rebecca School
July 24 - Readington, NJ - Quick Chek New Jersey Festival Of Ballooning at Solberg Airport

Jardine says that although he was more of a team player rather than a frontman for the Beach Boys, he feels that he's finally comfortable as a solo artist: "I just pretty much laid low. I didn't have that ego... (the) need to satisfy that part of my ego. We had plenty of lead singers. And I think you matriculate toward that as time goes on. You have to be patient and when the right moment comes, you hopefully have the right stuff to be up front."

Beach Boy Bruce Johnston says that he still considers Jardine one of the best singers in the business: "Al Jardine has a voice, a terrific voice, but he's got some notes there that nobody has. You know he just has a range that puts the song away, it's so good. It's stunning and traffic stopping. I couldn't sing like that!"

Although Jardine will always be best remembered for taking the lead on the Beach Boys'1965 Number One "Help Me, Rhonda," throughout the years, Jardine has written and produced most of the California-themed songs for Beach Boys albums.

Highlights include the "California Saga" suite from the group's 1973 Holland album, and "Santa Ana Winds" which he co-wrote with Brian Wilson for the group's 1980 Keepin'The Summer Alive album. In 1981 the Beach Boys scored their first Top 20 hit in over five years with a Jardine-produced remake of the Del-Vikings' "Come Go With Me."

Is that a recent quote from Bruce or is it old?

So this is more or less a tour to promote the album but there still isn't even a release date? What the hell is Al waiting for?

I think it's an old quote. I remember reading that before, but Bruce could be repeating himself.
