I'm 32 now and have been a Beach Boys fan since my mid 20's. Before that, my musical world consisted of jam-oriented rock. I saw Jerry with the Dead a few times before he passed. I got to catch a bunch of Allman Brother Shows and I saw over 70 Widespread Panic shows (I live in Atlanta and the bulk of their touring was in the southeast). Anyways, although I dont make it out to nearly as many shows as I used to , I still like to stay informed on the scene. I logged into
www.Jambands.com this morning and was surprised by one of the headlines. If you havent heard Jakob Fred Jazz Odyssey before you're missing out. I havent heard this record yet so I cant vouch for it yet. Here's the story posted...
The Petting Sounds of Brian Haas
Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey keyboardist Brian Haas has made his new solo album Petting Sounds available for free download on his official homepage. The album is an improvised symphony for solo piano and is said to have been recorded in one continuous session. The album was laid down in Ojai, CA with engineer and co-producer Teddy Jack Russell last year with the same UA mixing board that was used for the Beach Boys’ masterpiece Pet Sounds (hence the album’s name). JFJO has also confirmed a handful of new dates focusing on the Midwest, East Coast and South. The band’s 15th Anniversary Tour will continue at Norman, OK’s The Deli tomorrow. Download the album for Free at ww.BrianRoyHaas.com.
