I'm just curious if anyone has heard any boots from when the guys worked on this song for KTSA. Are all of the vocals currently circulating from the 60's ? What work (if any) did the guys do during KTSA? Am I right that they re-recorded it for LA? Also, was it ever actually a song that a guy could play and sing at the piano or was it always just a bunch of chanty feels? Is it two songs combined? My girl's really into the box set version so I busted out all of the others I have and now I'm curious... Tongue

While I have read there was talk of using it on KTSA, I don't recall reading that they actually did any new work on it for that album. I look forward to hearing otherwise, if they did.

it would be kinda strange but cool to hear BW's early 80s voice next to his golden voice.

They actually made a 25 minute long disco remix of it.

Not really.

There was an overdub session, February 11th 1980 at Rumbo.

So, AGD, do you have session info for all of the different versions currently floating around (archaeology etc.)? Also, have you heard any of these KTSA overdubs? Are they revealing in any way?

Check the shows & sessions part of 10452 for the dates of the original sessions in 1967 & 1968. Not heard the 1980 tape, but I can't imagine it improved it any.

Was it a vocal overdub or an instrumental overdub? Or both?

With only ten songs on Keeping The Summer Alive, couldn't they have just added it onto the album; they wouldn't have had to bump any of those other classics.

I don't think KTSA was the best place for it. Really I would like to see all the 2-fer bonus cuts come out on their own comp (with a vinyl edition of course) along with say another dozen of the best unreleased stuff.

Hell yes.  Me too.  Anytime a newly discovered alternate take of say, Bix Beiderbecke, is discovered, it gets restored and released Thank God.  The difference is he's gone, I guess.  But the idea that there's all this unreleased Beach Boys/Brian Wilson stuff makes me crazy.
