BW Whereabouts in the Summer of 1965?

Between the last
SD(ASN!!)
session on June 4 and the first
Party!
session on September 8, Brian is in the studio only once (to cut "Sloop John B." on July 12). For someone who had recorded and/or toured constantly since late 1961 a break was well deserved, but for three months? What was he up to?

According to more than one source, Brian told Tony Asher upon their first meeting that the BB were several months behind in their new album (according to Capitol), so it's probably likely that Brian was taking a nice long break.

I like the Beatles a bit more than the Boys of Beach, I think Brian's band is the tops---really amazing. And finally, I'm liberal. That's it.

Exactly - but doing what? Did he travel? Hang out with friends? Smoke pot? Sit around the house watching his singles and albums climb to the top of the charts? All of the above? I'm just curious. Must have felt weird (but probably very nice as well) going from a full-time-plus job and down to almost nothing just like that.

Does one of those feature the live recording of Shut Down as heard on Hawthorne, CA? Don't have the CD in front of me as of now.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.
