Arrows - "A's, B's & Rarities" - this glam band recorded the original version of "I Love Rock'n'Roll", which was later a big hit for Joan Jett & the Blackhearts!

John & Yoko - Double Fantasy (Stripped Down)..... It's on Spotiffy if you're in the British isles.
Kind of interested to hear this, even if the Yoko tunes off it are better....

I just paid a pretty penny for the "Manson Family Jams" album. Has anyone else ever heard it? Talk about the good, the bad and the ugly all on one record!

1. Pagan Baby
2. Sailor’s Lament
3. Chameleon
4. Have You Ever Seen the Rain?
5. (Wish I Could) Hideaway
6. Born to Move
7. Hey Tonight
8. It’s Just a Thought
9. Molina
10. Rude Awakening, No. 2
For some rerason this band gets quite overlooked on this borad. And this is an album that's also very overlooked. It shows CCR with a new sound compared to their previous albums, while still being very basic. Great stuff. Would be interesting to know what Fogerty had come up with on the next one if he had worked on that as on all the other albums.

That's good to hear.
I also think that this one has the best sound out of all.

Sail Away - Randy Newman
I just bought this album a few weeks ago - incredibly beautiful. I was a little put off by the satire in the title song, but other than that, I find the album to be wonderful.
Old Man is one of the saddest/most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

Funny bit about "Old Man": Newman thought he wasted a very beautiful string arrangement on such a thoroughly depressing song. I can kind of understand that but... the asymmetry between the lyrics and music (not to mention the whole 'writing in characters' thing, of course) is one of the most compelling things about him as an artist! I don't think anyone else could get away with writing a song like "Guilty" or "Suzanne" or "It's Money That I Love".

The Sweetest (I think that's the title) Bacharach/Elvis Costello
The Byrds' Younger than Yesterday and Sweetheart of the Rodeo (which I enjoy highly)
Bowie's Hunky Dory
Pink Floyd's Animals and Meddle

- U2
I can't really explain why I like this album so much...probably because I grew up listening to it constantly during the mid-90s. I remember listening to it a lot during the 9/11 days. Jesus, was that really 10 years ago? Time flies.
IMO it was U2's last album where they weren't trying to make hits...they were just making music.
And as much as I like their music, it seems to me that Coldplay based most of their songs off of 'The First Time' and 'Dirty Day'.
'The Wanderer' is a great one too - Cash really paints a fantastic picture with that voice.

Sonic Surf City- great Swedish band that's been around for over 20 years; very eclectic music with a very heavy Beach Boys & Ramones influence.
Surfin' Lungs- Italian band also with a strong Beach Boys/Ramones flavor.
Manges- 'nother great Italian band, one of the greatest pop-punk bands I've ever heard.
