Interestingly, people don't like the MIC MFY due to extra lyrics. Years complaining it's too short/ should be longer, then getting exactly that but somehow still not being pleased. Can't win 'em all, eh?
It's not like they deleted Mike's lead *entirely* & replaced it on top with Brian's. You know, it's still there PLUS Brian's. It features both Mike & Brian. What's not to like? It seems fans put too much emphasis in lyrics (silly/ cheesy/ clumsy/ other descriptions) than "We get Mike & Brian sing "Meant For You", COOL!". That, I don't understand.
Can't win 'em all indeed. Just for the record though, I was never one of those fans who complained about MFY being too short. I love it at 39 seconds. Pefect!

A beautiful waltz! Love that harmonica and those sterling vocals from Brian and Carl! One of my favorites.

1 - boring song, skip material, as many tracks in Friends. Can't win 'em all indeed. Just for the record though, I was never one of those fans who complained about MFY being too short. I love it at 39 seconds. Pefect!
Thanks, what you say makes sense.

Today's song is Wake the World.
It took me years to get to appreciate this album. It was SWD who finally converted me. "WTW" is a magical song. Those tremolando strings, those chords changes... I'll give it five when the poll changes (no hurry, Watamushi-san). :=)

Catchy. Cool tuba. Brian and Carl do great on the leads. (I don't hear Mike on this one. Was he absent for it?)

Today's song is Be Here in the Morning.
According to John in "The Definitive Vocal Credits" topic (a priceless document), it's Alan on the verses, Carl on the choruses and Brian on the chorus responses. Other prominent vocal lines are Dennis humming on the intro and bridge and Murry's deep "full!" in the chorus. Some great instrumental touches in there too, most notably the organ solo (which reminds me of the bass on a "GV" session track) and the wildly ringing bells in the chorus. Five!

Today's song is When a Man Needs a Woman.
A year ago I would have described this as a piece of fluff. Since my conversion to Friends by SWD, I can hear so much going on in this sweet song. Five.

Today's song is Passing By. The thinking man's "Flying", lol (a little unkind perhaps). Lovely progressions in there. Five.

I like this song even though it sounds like it should be the theme song for a cheesey TV show (but it's way cooler than "Karen"!). 4 (really 3.5, but 4....)

The verse is a trifle generic but the chorus amply makes up for it. The song's mood fits in perfectly on this album. 5.
