Do You Like Worms

I'm apologizing all ready because I'm pretty sure this has been said over and over again but I really am in complete awe of (especially today for some reason as opposed to the general sense of awe that I feel about this track!) "Do You Like Worms"...
It is, I have to be quite honest, probably the most original piece of music I have ever heard. Nothing compares with it either in today's recording scene or from years ago; how would you class something like this? What would you file it under without feeling at least a little bit of uncertainty or shame? I mean, "rock"? Uhm... "psychedelic rock"? Hm... It really is just a timeless sort of track.
Perhaps I should have posted this under "the smile sessions box set" section but I just had to shout about it here. I do apologize, again...
p.s and my favourite version of this track is still the one found on disc 2 from the "good vibrations" box set. yes, even with the pitch shift.

I agree, there is something quite different about this track (maybe even, as you said, something that is unique to rock music). If there are other songs like it, I haven't heard them!
I was originally going to say that "Cabinessence" is most unique, thinking of the chorus, but I realized that the beginning of the song tries to be folk-y and campfire-y. "Do You Like Worms" doesn't seem like it's trying to be anything...it just is what it is lol.

It is my favorite song ever.
First time I heard it on a bootleg in '89, my head blew off.

Wouldn't it be funny if it was included on The Light Album? Apparently it was Bruce's idea to open the album with DOYLW and end with Can't Wait Too Long. I couldn't imagine a less coherent album.
I similarly think the song is completely brilliant. An absolute classic.
