Oooo! I like this alot!
You've got my two favs from LBWL.
I'd prolly have a couple more Celebration tunes- Cruisin', Go And Get that Girl, and Country Pie.
Surprised nobody has insisted on the Disco Celebration disc being included.
Cruisin' is OK. Go And Get that Girl and Country Pie are very good but didn't feature Mike Love leads, so...

Every time somebody mentions the title "Country Love," I keep seeing it as Courtney Love.

Country Pie does feature a Mike lead doesn't it? Wasn't it mis-attributed on the label?

Indeed! I added it to my "Sad, Sad Summer" collection.

Mike covered Bob Dylan? I think I might actually want to hear that.

No, it's not the Bob Dylan song.

"Viggie", to be accurate - written about his English girlfriend of the early/mid seventies, Virginia. Utterly charming little choon.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

I guess I would buy it.....if I didn't like it I could always do what I did to my 1st copy of sip...went to a local bar in Ashland, ky...got tanked on bud lights.....walked down to the bridge and walked halfway across and flung the cd like a frisbee into the ohio river. but that wasn't a smart thing to do as I had to buy a 2nd copy for the collection. but it was fun none-the-less.

One of his very finest! The backing track is almost Kate Bush-like, or something Paul Simon would produce; Mike's vocal is really soothing and heartfelt, with great backing harmonies on the fade.
I've got two versions: one more elaborately produced than the other,. I personally prefer the version that's slightly more stripped back, where the flutes(?) are held back until the fade (which to me makes it them more effective). But both versions are utterly wonderful though! To me, 'Viggie' is to Mike what 'Lady' is to Dennis.
'Viggie' and 'Glow Crescent Glow' would've been more worthwhile additions to MIC than 'Brian's Back' and 'Goin To The Beach', but hey ho...

I'm in contact with someone that has the Korean LP. It's just that I'm, so far, unwilling to pay $200 for it, and they won't accept less. You want it for that?

I think I'm gonna write Three Men With Beards or someone like that and ask them to reissue it!
They put out Squeeze: Velvet Underground, for God's sake, so why not SIP?

Being inspired by this thread, I decided to take my YT Channel to the next level and do an album review of Mike's solo album and side projects.
Here's the first part:

No, but I probably wouldn't be able to resist downloading it if I came across a torrent.
Same here. Don't see the logic in buying the records if I can easily find them on-line in a good audio quality. However, as Mike's solo box set would certainly be a limited edition, since his solo songs aren't popular & therefore, wouldn't sell the mass market & appear in the Internet as a free download, I'd hastily order it for any cost. Who knows what's left in the vault yet, plus I'm genuinely interested to hear Celebration stuff, "...Not War", "Country Love" & Adrian Baker.

I'd definitely by a single disc anthology.... with the hope that there's a pretty heavy beach boy presence in some form or another (other than Mike obviously...)

Back on the board after a year of being laptopless!
Granted a Love solo box would contain lots of guff but the guy has turned out some real musical curiosities that are worth a listen. I used to have most of his unreleased stuff and Viggie is indeed a gem. If anyone has had success in finding Summertime Cruisin' I'd like to meet them, I've been after that one for years now!
