HCTN '79 is the outright winner.

I think THD has it about right.
No love for Bluebirds Over the Mountain (prior post)? I really love that track.
Was Hey Little Tomboy a single?

If you factor in the B-sides, Here Comes the Night is out of contention thanks to Baby Blue.

Not sure, but it's got to be stuff after 1980.

I always liked the 1979 "Here Comes The Night". The only problem with it was the length of the album version. Anyway...
"Happy Endings" - the group finally records with the great Little Richard - one of their early musical heroes - and instead of recording/releasing a great rocker, they do a ballad! Ugh...
"It's Getting Late" - not a good choice as the follow up to "Getcha Back". While not perfect by any means, "California Calling" should've been released hot on the heels of "Getcha Back"...
"That's Why God Made The Radio" - I know they had to go with this one (because it's the title track and they thought it was great), but "Spring Vacation", which I like a lot, had a better chance at charting/selling if it would've been released IN THE SPRING!

I kinda like the late-70s disco version of Here Comes the Night.
Never understood how they could choose Tears in the Morning as a single. I don't mind the song per se but come on, a single from your supposed comeback album?

Peggy Sue b/w Hey Little Tomboy
Rock And Roll Music b/w TM Song
Summer of Love
Here Comes the Night '79 may be dreck, but Baby Blue on the B-side is transcendent at least.

Yeah, I don't quite know why, but I just don't like the song. I dig it on a production level, but nothing else about it appeals to me. It just seems overly dorky to me and not in an endearing way. I think it would have worked much better as an album track than a standalone single..... I dunno. Maybe I'll go give it a few more listens. I certainly would never call it bad. I mean Summer Of Love is BAD but in the most entertaining way possible and it IS damn catchy at the same time.

Didn't they try "Under The Boardwalk" from SIP as a single too? I think that should make the list.

Really? I think "Spring Vacation" is one of the weakest songs on the album, it's catchy but forgettable, it's generic fluff that makes decent album filler but nothing more. Plus lyrically, it's basically the same as "Isnt It Time" which is a better song in my opinion. "Summer's Gone" probably would have made a good single.

Yeah, I really liked "Spring Vacation" from the first time I heard it. Love the intro, it might be Mike's best vocal on the album, nice melody, it has a great hook, and the lyrics don't bother me. It makes me feel good when the song comes on. Frankly, I expected more songs like this on the album. Not to get into the whole thing again, but I like these types of songs to counter the heavier ones; it helps the effect you get - both ways.
"Spring Vacation" sounds like the most commercial, single potential song on the album, to me anyway. I liked "Isn't It Time" a lot for awhile, but it kind of wore off for me. And, yeah, I would've loved to hear "Summer's Gone" on the radio. I don't care if it isn't your typical single. It's in the top two or three best songs on the album, maybe THE best song on the album. Get it out there for everybody to hear...

I'm going to have to disagree and say that Summer's Gone wold have been a horrible single. I think the average BB fan would want a catchy, upbeat song to be their single from a new album celebrating 50 years together.
But to stay on topic

Crocodile Rock
Happy Endings
Was the Stamosised Forever put out as a single? I know they made a video for it. If so that can share the joint No1 spot with Problem Child.

I would pick the singles from the nineties albums but I forget which were actual singles in stores. I know Fun Fun Fun was with Status Quo vinyl too.
