Any other great bands beside MBV that I need to listen to? MBV's albums are classics and I want to hear more.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

I'm afraid my only answer to this is The Jesus & Mary Chain (who are a bit too punky for 'shoegaze' but are of the vintage and they fucking rule) and Spacemen 3 & their progeny. But yeah, Suicide by Spacemen 3 is the best shoegaze song in my unqualified opinion.

Oh man: Slowdive, Pale Saints, Mazzy Star (they mostly count), Spiritualized, Chapterhouse, The House Of Love (not the Lovester's Santa Barbara pad) , Lush. Ride (more shoepop), Mojave 3, and on and on...... Was a great period in music that gradually gave way to Britpop as we know it

If you get the chance, check out some early stuff from The Brian Jonestown Massacre. A wonderful band that truly captures the mid-60's psychedelic sound. Also a shoegazing group (not so much in their recent stuff, but it's all still good).

Check out Beach House.  One of the best contemporary groups out there.
