Brian Wilson (or the person who tweets for him) posted this pic of BW and Jeff Beck in the studio today....wonder what's going on with that!

It's already been posted in the "TWGMTR follow-up" thread. But I guess it's a collaboration that deserves its own thread for sure. 3D As to what's going on: he might be guest-starring on Brian's new solo album (same as Don Was & Jim Keltner). I doubt it's going to be a Beach Boys record.

They are doing a good job of trying to build anticipation...

The idea of Brian working with guest stars brings back horrific memories of GIOMH but whatever Brian does next must be an improvement on that.

Stars and Stripes Vol 2:

Heavy rock cover versions with The Beach Boys providing harmonies to accompany lengthy bass, guitar and drum solos.

Mike'll also be doing an extended tambourine break on a cover of Hi Ho Silver Lining.

It would still be better than Volume 1.

(Especially if it includes a Pantera cover of Noble Surfer.)

On our way through this "backstage" maze, Bruce joined up with the group and said hello, singing "It Never Rains in Southern California" and joking with some of the older ladies. I'm not sure if they knew he was a Beach Boy or simply an enthusiastic elderly gay gentleman.

Brian was so so so impressed with Jeffs instrumental cover of 'Surfs Up' at the 'Music Cares Tribute'  that he has asked him to cover it for 'Any Musician Who's In Town And Cheap - Reimagines Brian Wilson'   Wink

Brian and Jeff Beck are both featured artists in Rock Camp this week in Vegas. Their collab could have something to do with that event, rather than be for a new album.

I think Billy Hinsche has hinted at such on Facebook.

Yep, I think he looks pretty relaxed and happy in most of these shots that have been coming out of the studio.  It's good to see.  I hope he is having fun!

Funny, Brian would seem to be the one in better health.

Argh, I'd hope for Mike doiing an extended Sax solo, rather than tambourine( unless it's green)

Perhaps, but Beck brought at least two members of his band and there is a reference to "Brian's project"....

I'd like to hear what sort of instrumental pieces Brian and Jeff could come up with...could be pretty awesome really.

Ohhhh yeah THAT album. If he goes for guest stars again can I suggest an album title?

"Brian's project"...

EDIT: Oh, it's already been posted in the other thread. Maybe we could use this one to discuss all those guest musicians (and change the thread title accordingly).

All I can think of is the Eurovision episode of Father Ted:

Brian: No not the f*cking first one! The f*cking first one's already f*cking down! Just play the f*cking note you were f*cking playing earlier! I've been playing the f*cking first one! We have the f*cking first one!
Jeff: So I'll just...
Brian: Just play the f*cking note you were f*cking playing there! F*cking what you were just f*cking doing! Play the f*cking note!
