Affirmative. I think hearing the music without actual music is good substitute when some student - undercover, I'm watching you - is anxious about studying.

Good stuff. Might have been a good choice for Johnny Cash to record.

A truly fascinating if utterly disarming album:
"Like An Inca" is my favorite Neil Young song from the 80s. You know, the three "normal" tracks on this LP fit in fairly well on CSN's concurrent
Daylight Again
. But
Trans
is worthwhile as a whole entity.

Yes, indeed. Gave this a spin recently and it sounds great----particularly when you realize it's a

While I probably ought to join the club and post about how all the mods are so mean, or whatever kind of slop in which the filthiest revel, instead I thought I'd post that I'm having a great time listening to Joanna Newsom's appearance on the latest episode of Marc Maron's WTF podcast. If you're into that sort of thing, you can find it easily enough online, including at

She discusses meeting VDP around the 50-minute mark, if that's your thing.

Hee-hee, around the 1 hr 03 m mark, she goes back to VDP a bit ... basically she's asked about working with him and politely says that's not going to happen. The gist is, she says she was more passive then and is more intimately involved in all aspects of music now, and he's not interested in receiving "5 pages of notes." And she ends by saying something like "he's very sweet and he tells the best stories and he's a gentleman." It definitely feels like "next question."

They are crazy live. Saw them at a festival one year. The mosh pit resulted in a bloody nose or two (fortunately not mine!).
Glad you like it

I love The Final Cut, even if it's essentially a Roger Waters album featuring David Gilmour and Nick Mason.
The Final Cut
is incredible, truly. Loved it when I heard it for the first time at age 16 without knowing how the rest of the world views it, and love it now even more. I cannot hear it and not get emotional.

Kissing the Lipless.
James Mercer's voice is killer, always and especially in this song.

Well music & thoughts - 2 different things. No? Discuss.
Did you mean in your head? If music is going on in your head, but you can't hear it, you're still experiencing silence.
Really? Put it another way. If music is going on in your head, perhaps no one else can hear it but you yourself are experiencing music.

Vampire Weekend is the Simon and Garfunkel of my generation.
Now I'm listening to The Werewolf. I can't tell how I feel...
Now it's Why Don't You Write Me. This I like.

I've tried stuff by Ezra Koenig and co but it just doesn't work for me. I'm terribly sorry, u-m. Must be a generational thing.

2 john k: I said it before - it's cool that you try to stay up-to-date unlike other old-timers. You don't have to but still you do it. To me, it takes titanic patience and effort to listen to every single music suggestion, give chance to *every* genre that is NOT my cup of tea. Some of you have inquiring minds - I don't, I don't have goal to chase modern music, only selectively and if I feel like it. I'm just not interested and don't see what I will gain from that.
Anyway, it's totally OK to not like any of the music suggested here, by undercover-m or whoever else. They aren't writers of it, they won't be hurt. I'm sure she won't cry in the pillow "john didn't like music I love!!! What am I gonna do?!" Funny, isn't it? To be "terribly sorry" when dealing with taste is a stretch.
