Skylarking
is pretty fantastic. "1000 Umbrellas" is my favourite track off that - such a great, weird arrangement.
I'm listening to Skylarking today. Grass and The Meeting Place are my two favorites. Super Supergirl is damn great too. All around incredible album. Produced by Mr. Rundgren.
Played this last Saturday night.
Judd, I think "Ballet for a rainy day" and "1000 Umbrellas" work best as a set of tracks together. I never separate them when making comps. Hard to separate any of the tracks really. The themes flow perfectly.
It's
so
psychedelic
,
this album is for sitting in the speakers. a great place to go.
Mike, Great to see someone singling out Colin's work as a favorite, "Grass" and "The Meeting Place." "Big Day" "Dying" and "Sacrificial Bonfire" - some of Colin's best writing on any xtc project. It's hard to grade a top five. I'm working on it. Andy was turning up with so many interesting songs too. "Summer's Cauldron" would join "Ballet for a rainy day" and "1000 Umbrellas" as my top three Andy songs of the bunch.
Other than some of his own records, I think this was Todd's best production. He brought a lot to these sessions, ideas and playing. Beyond the tension of making a record with Andy in the room, I feel Todd was really having fun doing this. It's quite a magical creation. Both Colin and Andy learned a lot from him, and benefited from him being there. Reminds me of the Hall and Oates record and his work with The Tubes, where it really felt like he was part of the group. You can hear it all over the place. Todd leaves traces of himself on all his projects I guess, but it's special to me that I got to hear him work with xtc.

Hell yeah! I freaking love this album. Down On The Street and 1970 kick my ass everytime I put it on. Killer, killer stuff! I love the way Don Gallucci made Funhouse sound. Also, awesome tenor sax from Steven Mackay. One of my favorite albums from the Elektra label.

I have it. One of my random finds on the Internet. Quite a treat, if worth of 2 listens at max. Favorite track:"The Breeze", I just find it cool to have stress shifted to the last syllable ('housEs', 'rushEs', 'smi-yEls'...). It occurs in many songs I like, "At My Window" too ("he caaaame to myyy windOw").

Almost 40 tracks of Elliott Smith b-sides, soundtrack cuts, demos and other rarities with my coffee. So good. So sad. So good.

Ringo Star - title track to Postcards From Paradise aka
(autotuned or whatever) Ringo jamming a load of mostly Beatles song titles together and calling it a lyric *facepalm*
https://screen.yahoo.com/postcards-paradise-lyric-video-214009339.html
eta: these are genuinely part of the real lyrics
"and I aint going nowhere, man / because I want to hold your hand"
"I know that We Can Work It Out
There ain't no need to Twist & Shout
And I won't Back off Boogaloo
Unless you say you Love Me Do"

Tony Orlando - Tie A Yellow Ribbon round the Ole Oak Tree. Been my favorite since I was 16. Great voice! :

If you don't like it - fine, but you likely have bad speakers/headset.

Judd, You have such good taste. And knowledge enough to know the correct, original, title and cover.
