Beatles - Ballad of John and Yoko, one of my favourites. This song actually caused a 11-page debate over at a Beatles forum I'm on (granted, it escalated way beyond discussing just the song itself).

"The Ballad of El Goodo" by Big Star. At 1st I thought it has a very distinctive Beatles sound, esp. that iconic guitar intro. Either way, the song is incredibly beautiful, love the band & Alex Chilton's medium soft singing.
