Do you like Curtis Mayfield?

I feel like much of the production on his albums were 'brian-esque' in their layering and rhythmic complexity.  Especially on the album 'Super Fly'.

Yes, huge fan. He spent the last years of his life in my hometown. Funny story: a couple years ago I was playing music at a rehearsal studio in Atlanta with some friends. We were playing Curtis' tune "Hard Times". When we finished the song we heard a knock at the door, we opened it up and there was a young guy standing there and he just said "thats my dads song", it was Curtis Jr. We invited him in our room and played it again for him and we also played Pusherman for him, he was a great guy and he was pumped to see a group of young guys playing his dads music. Pretty sweet
