What's your favorite piece of music from the Boys?
No vocals.
Just instrumental, or intro type stuff.

I really dig Mount Vernon and Fairway.
I'm not too crazy about the electronic stuff, but the piano and melody are gorgeous.

And considering where Brian was then, makes it that much more beautiful.

I love the instrumental portion in the middle of Cuddle Up, the introduction to Wouldn't It Be Nice, and Mrs. O'Leary's Cow.

The instrumental intro to The Little Girl I Once Knew and Let Him Run Wild (love how it builds as each instrument is introduced and layered).

Amen to Johnny Carson and Mt Vernon and Fairway! Also, my favorite part of Pet Sounds is the bridge of Here Today! Also like the bridge to Please Let Me Wonder and Wendy. The music to My Solution is awesome. The intro to Til I Die (extended version). The tags to Life of a Tree and Don't Go Near the Water.

There are so many great moments. They bring about memories that last forever. Forever memories.

That still makes me laugh. Gawd bless Al Jardine!

It's hard not to want the opening credits montage of my life set to the Pet Sounds title track.

The backing track to In The Back Of My Mind is better instrumentally than when it has Dennis's vocal IMO. Something just seems off about his vocal on that.

The entire backing track of Love You is stellar. Small electronic notes bouncing from right to left, erratic moog bass. Whats not to love? I would love a few of those backing tracks to show up on a boot or something.

I agree with you that the backing track stands alone quite well.

I agree that something seems off about Denny's vocal. Wish I knew exactly what. It almost sounds like he recorded the vocal first, alone, and then Brian fit the music behind it. I dunno. it's weird.

But...............I wouldn't change a thing.

I think the vocal quality is a lot lower than the backing track. I think that definitely has something to do with it.

Right... that, and the fact that the first verse sounds more like a bridge, than a verse. It's like there is a beginning to the song that isn't even there.

BUT... who are we to second guess? It are what it are.
