Darn.  I really thought we had a chance to move up, I'm curious to see how it does next week.

Interestingly enough, Jackson barely lost to Adele, less than a thousand sales behind.

Yeah, well certainly disappointing.  BUT, had you told me in December when all of this news broke that this album would even go top 10 I honestly would have said you were smokin' something. Even three weeks ago I did not see this type of chart placement happening. Good for the Boys.

Highest chart peak for a new Beach Boys album since 1965. Awesome news! I hope B Dub is pumped.

As much as I would have liked a #1, I doubt this will be disappointing to anyone affiliated with the Beach Boys; this is a bona fide success!

Jeez-oh!!!!!!!

30 years ago that news would have blown my socks off.  Today it's actually pretty hard to even accept.

Phenomenal come back!

I know, I know, but for the last few days we all got sucked in to the thought we could have a number 1, admit it

Yeah, well certainly disappointing.

This is their third highest charting studio album ever. Only their second top ten studio album since 'Pet Sounds'. It's 123 places higher than 'Friends' ever came and 148 places higher than 'Sunflower'. This is not dissapointing. This is beyond incredible.

well, it can still move up! Are these the exact Billboard approved numbers?  No remaining counties to be heard from? I want to hear the individual BBs' reactions; I'm sure they will comment in the press.

I am very happy and proud, but I still want #1; we all do.

It's possible, but not likely.  It's still a guess until Soundscan release the official numbers, but it's a very educated guess.  So 90% chance they're right about it.

The way sales are calculated and the charts devised are not really comparable at all to most BB albums of the past. But whatever the comparisons mean, a #3 album is a huge success. If nothing else, this will hopefully snowball and lead to more interest. Also, let's hope it makes the group realize that they are a viable concern after this year's tour is over. They aren't going to do an album and tour every year for another decade, but another album and tour of some sort would be cool.

If they sell another 5k tonight that would closer to 70, the night is young and sales are still counting

The count stopped midnight Sunday, from what I understand.

I was hoping it'd maybe get pushed to #2, but Alan Jackson is tough to catch with his very loyal country fanbase and just the wrong time to get to #1 with Adele.

All is swell, though.

#3 is, in all honesty, utterly ridiculous. Unfathomable to all of us months ago. This is really a special thing. Yes, things are done and counted differently than decades ago, but it doesn't matter because that is how it is done now and The Beach Boys have a brand new record sitting at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. I'm absolutely elated for them!

Happy for the #3.  Might have a decent second week of sales with Father's Day coming up on Sunday. If it stays top 10 next week I'd be impressed. To climb any higher, it will need heavy airplay.

Astonishing. And the Brits could only struggle up to #15...what gives?
