We must double our efforts.
Everyone go to Target and buy 10 more copies. Now.
Then drink this here Kool Aid.
Thanks.

I'd like that too, then have to remember Top 5 for a group that's been around 50 YEARS ain't too shabby.

At number 3, it would be their highest debuting album ever.
It would be their highest charting album since Summer Days in 1965. In other words, 47 years.

says Jackson is between 65-70K; does not give a sales figure for Adele. Does the BB's number account for the QVC sales? Will they be included in the Billboard first week numbers?

Not gonna happen. These days, albums debut at their top spot. This is the best it's going to be.

VERY good point, maybe that doesn't include QVC sales

Something I was curious about...Are major artists like The Beach Boys allowed to sell their albums at their concerts? At the Bethlehem show, Al and David had CD's for sale at the merchandise booth. Can/will The Beach Boys do the same? Do you realize how many they could sell at $7.99 or $9.99 which is what Amazon was charging.

My read on this is that it's the 3rd highest DEBUTING album, correct? Not necessarily the 3rd highest seller overall.
If you want to goose the numbers, here's an insider trick: buy the album at the biggest indie retailer in your vicinity -- e.g. Fingerprints in Long Beach, Music Millenium in Portland. Usually those sales are "weighted" by Soundscan to compensate for smaller retailers that they don't count. At least that's how it was when I kept track of such things. They may have changed the policy since then.

No, second highest debut after Jackson; 3d highest overall.

SJS -- Again, I'm going from when I was engaged in the industry years ago, but in the '90s S.O.P. was that major labels did not want nor did they allow the product to be sold at the venues. Reasons for this are complicated but it comes down to the fact that they, and not the band, own the record...this is not the same as Al and Dave who own their masters (or have leased them to a small label that's delighted to have the opportunity to sell through at the venues), and are going to get direct financial benefit back from the CDs. There's also the issue with Soundscan. There is a way to count sales at venues through Soundscan, but it's a bit of a cumbersome process most big labels don't want to bother with.
The way it's generally worked is product the band owns or leases is sold at the venues, outside product is sold at stores that are strategically tied in marketing-wise to the tour dates. I'm sure there are exceptions, but that's the deal. Someone with more industry mojo can probably get into the whys and wherefores.

God bless you. I'm tempted to buy another just to have another. Could more album sales throughout the week help push this towards number 2?

uh...yes. The numbers today are projections based upon first day sales. Sales throughout the week will be counted in the total numbers.

I realize that. I suppose I phrased that wrong. This website makes it seem that first day sales really determine what will chart where. I'm saying, will there be significant sales throughout the week that will propel TWGMTR forward? More of a, what do you think question. I'm not that slow.

I seriously doubt HDD are aware of the 14-18k sold on QVC, Billboard will be though...
In that case we should be lookin at 70-75k, That could make the boys #2 or possibly #1
