When people mention the great Beach Boys albums the first is Pet Sounds then it's the unfinished mysterious Smile but what about the little brother with the most potential "Today"? That's the true forgotten album that was as strong as both albums..maybe not as innovative or as creative but very solid! It's my girlfriend's favorite album by them maybe because it has that commercial accessible sound that Pet Sounds and Smile lack hmmmmm..
Another thing I've noticed is die hard BB fans prefer everything post Pet Sound, what about the Pre Pet Sounds gems?..They have quite a few that's not really mentioned as much as they should be at least among us.
What is your top 5 pre Pet Sounds songs?
*Correction* Let's take away twisted sister and substitute it with the aborted baby that was never forgotten...better?(maybe that's a little too harsh)

I agree. "The Beach Boys Today" is a killer album. Easily my #2 after Pet Sounds. Having it paired with the awesome "Summer Days.." on a single CD is bliss.
Maybe because for 20 years it was all tilted to the pre-Pet Sounds stuff there's been a heavier emphasis on the post PS stuff. Weird, I always see the band's career in pre-Holland/post-Holland terms.

All Summer Long, Surfer Girl and Little Deuce Coupe are also terrific albums. sh*t Down Vol 2 could have been great if there wasn't so much filler.

ick, i'm not big on Little Deuce Coupe, possibly my low album (not including the first two, cause there's not much there).

of the early albums:
1. Today
2. Summer Days
3. Surfer Girl
