It is easy to laugh at what Murray was saying to Al during the recording of "Help Me Rhonda" in regards to "syncopating" it. But, if you listen to what he was saying, he's actually correct.

I'm sure Murry had his faults but I sometimes wonder if we aren't putting too much store in the opinions of Murry from people who were kids and business associates.

Just to find 4 incredible singers in one neighborhood that's amazing. Two of them his own kids!

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.
What is this "life" thing you speak of ?
Syncopate it? In front of all these people?!

Yes we laugh at Murry, and there's a lot to laugh at. But it is doubtful the Beach Boys would have made it without him. It's also a tragedy and a truism, that many people who are abused, go on to abuse their own children.
I have a lot of pity for Murry. Obviously intelligent. Very complex. Completely f*cked up.
And without him, the term "I'm a genius too Brian", would not have entered the modern lexicon. A term I use daily. With conviction.
