If Foskett's not there, Brian likely won't be either....

I could do without Jeff Foskett. A couple of guys can play circles around him on guitar, and Matt Jardine can sing circles around him vocaly.
Yes, Matt Jardine of course !! I guess Bruce said something like this and I agree: the best falsetto in the Beach Boys since Brian

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Tour ain't gonna happen with Brian so that rules out his band members
Wrong.

Jeff Foskett - vocals
Scott Totten - guitar, vocals
Paul von Mertens - horns, arrangements
John Cowsill - drums, vocals
Randell Kirsch - bass, vocals
Darian Sahanaja - keyboards, mallets, vocals
Probyn Gregory/Scott Bennett - guitars, general doo-dads, vocals
I guess that's the list for the "Do it again" re-recording, right ? I think this would be a good band. But I think Foskett could also play some guitar
Nope, that's my preferred band for the 'reunion'. How would I know who played on the "DIA" session ?

Just out of interest. If a 'reunion' turns out to be no more than Al playing with Mike and Bruce all next touring year, would you bother going?

Just in case anyone missed it, that sounds like the surest confirmation I've heard that a reunion's happening (unless I'm misreading of course).
I vote for at least one major festival appearance (Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, Coachella). Could be a good place to do some of their hipper stuff with an audience that digs it.

I say let`s force the oldies/surf/Kokomo crowd to listen to the hip stuff. Shove All This Is That, Feel Flows, SU, Cabinessence, Trader, Friends, Cuddle Up, POB, Love You, etc. etc. down their throats if need be. I want to see throngs of people screaming for Ding Dang and Little Pad instead of Barbara Ann and Fun Fun Fun.

I want to see a set where Brian does the whole Love You album to confuse the kokomo crowd.

Quite surprised that people are suggesting so many backing band members have 'vocal' roles. I can see that the few remaining BBs couldn't possibly handle all the parts, but I would want to limit the number of additional vocalists where possible. Vocally I'd suggest:
Mike
Brian
Al
Bruce
Jeff - I think Brian needs Jeff's support with his vocal parts live (and he has the history) , but would prefer Matt on falsetto
Matt - doing the falsetto (if not, for any reason, I love Randell's falsetto as well)
Either Christian Love (but can he actually handle complex arrangements or is he primarily a lead singer?) or John Cowsill to fill in the 'Carl' mid-range parts.
Not to say that Darian, Scott et al are not great singers. But that would feel and sound to me like BB's joining Brian's band rather than a BB reunion.

A reminder to me of the magic Brian can create even with just himself Bruce, Jeff, and Stamos!

And... just how many members of Brian's band pitch in with bvs live ?
PS: I don't think Christian has any interest in this kind of thing. Just the feeling I'm getting.

That would be a shame AGD if Christian didn't want to get involved. He looked in his element at Epsom and I was a fan of his voice. I really want the reunion to happen. It might not end up the way we all want it to but it will be a good thing to see them all again. They all have good shows at the moment. There should be a good amount of reference to Carl and Dennis though.

I'm going to guess it will/would be Mike and Bruce band [the corprate designate] plus guest artists. Maybe from past bands and current noncorporate designate bands and assorted family, friends, etc..
I'd also guess a reunion tour would/could easily go on without Brian as the rest are more accustomed to touring without Brian then with.

I know Brian is comfortable with Jeff covering his vocals, but the problem is that you end up hearing almost all Jeff. I think Brian is certainly capable of performing without Jeff, but it's easy to lean on a crutch. I'd much rather see Jeff not be a part of this. Matt Jardine would be the best vocal choice. I've never felt the emotion in Jeff's voice that Matt Jardine can bring to the table. Just listen to Matt sing "The Warmth Of The Sun". I really think Jeff needs Brian more than Brian or The Beach Boys needs Jeff.
