I came across this on Youtube this evening, only uploaded a month ago.  I was not around in time to hear songs such as this, performed in the earlier Brian tours, so it was cool to hear.

Not sure if it is advisable to post a link so I won't for now, but do please seek it out, it only has about 600 views at the time of writing.

Anyone have info on this?  I guess it must be a soundboard recording.  It even sounds kind of partially/roughly mixed.

I'm not very well versed in what 'circulates', but I am not aware of any unofficial recordings of a Brian gig that sound so clear (what I have heard has only been audience recordings)...I wonder what else was performed at this show and if it will come to light soon.

Check it out anyway.

Probably one of the 2001 soundboard recordings from the tour supporting Paul Simon.

Brian's tours have generally had some very good unofficial recordings -- both audience and board.

I have that exact recording, it's a bonus track on my copy of Sweet Insanity. not that I own such things.

Great stuff.  Anyone got a link to the David Marks version when he toured with Mike and Bruce a few years back?  It's also very good.

There was an audience video/recording of that until very recently, but I can't find it now.

It is the one where Mike says his cousin Dennis wrote a really good song and the audience applaud and he says 'save it, he's not here'.

Just for the fun of it, I post a few versions of that song. Unfortunately the version with David Marks seems to have been taken down. I couldn't find it.

Brian's mentioned version 2001 (?) :

EDIT:

Forget it, here's a version with David singing lead:

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

He better not show up on stage at any reunion concert. Grin

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591
