The fade coming out of that Bop bop bop doo da loo work so well. I've never been able to figure out a good way to integrate the fade but that works brilliantly. Thank god we've lost the cross fade.

I really liked it. I think this can squash anyone's fears that this will just be BWPS v. 2.0

That session tape is hilarious.  LOL

MAN, THAT VEGETABLES MIX. It's the business.... It all sounds so clear! I'm used to hearing this on fuzzy bootlegs. Even the Good Vibrations box sounds a little tame, due to no-noising d'yer reckon? But this... it's PROPER.

Yes ("let's make you be the judge") but I got a question. The piano-only chorus, I thought it was tracked together with the verse piano. Were both sections tracked separately or is this just a rehearsal of some sort?

Pretty obviously a rehearsal, I'd say.

Oh my, what a great mix...and it just sounds so very...1966!

Thank God they included the fade. There's just so much great singing on it.

A rehearsal? Trying to reason that out - Engineer says Take 1, Brian complains he can't hear everyone properly through his earphones? Either that, or he's gathering them round his good ear.  Would you bother with earphones and recording for a rehearsal?

That said, it's well casual. The alternative is that before or after Brian recorded his piano runthrough that's been booted, he decided to try and do the same sound but in sections. I'm getting a bit hyper/incoherent about it, as you might guess  Grin

Love the new Vega-Tables mix!  Makes a lot more sense now, I dig the structure and the way they moved some things around.  The "bop bop bop bop" part into the fade is just brilliant, like it was always meant to be that way.

The rehearsal is the bomb. Like yet another 'controlled shambles' session (like so many of the vocal take/rehearsals on the SOT series)...and then, POW. The chorus in glorious stereo. Really liking this.

I'm not sure, but I bet that Denny has some hash joints. I just know he does. Smokin

I think that there's a good chance it was meant to be that way - there's no other way the fade can fit in, and I'll bet that the order of the tracks on the sessions disc is the order of the sections in this mix and "insert (part 4)" is "bop bop bop bop", always meant to be there. I have no proof, but I feel that this is more of Mark and Alan basing their mix on a well-done research rather than constructing what sounds good to them. Hopefully it will all be explaind in the liner notes.
