Hey all,

I've been wondering if there are any Beach Boys scores out there? Specifically the bigger productions involving the Wrecking Crew members.
It would be nice to look at the songs spread out in their separate parts, and see what's really going on.

Thank you kindly Grin

I don't think so. At least no completely accurate ones.

If there were any, I doubt Brian's live band would switch the magical A/G chord to a dull F#m in the "Waiting For The Day" chorus, for example.  Angry

It's a good question -- because all those guys would have had dots they played from (having written them out themselves to Brian's instructions, if the description of his working method is accurate).

When I was an arranger, I was assiduous about collecting parts at the end of sessions.  However, not all sessions are like that, and some of the musicians I worked with kept bits and pieces, so it's possible the Wrecking Crew guys would have yellowing bits of manuscript sitting in lofts.  Most sessions guys don't tend to keep stuff, though.  Arrangers do, though -- so Sid Sharpe (who's still around, I believe) may have bits and pieces.

It's pretty clear that Darian transcribed everything for the Wondermints, so those charts are around.

It is a little surprising the little things that they get wrong, isn't it?

I've thought of doing complete transcriptions of select productions, but never quite got around to it.
