When did Brian begin seeing Mary-Jane for songwriting? I assume he just started chatting with her while hearing back music or messing around on the organ/piano but by Pet Sounds it seems she was ever-present at the writing scene. I was just listening to Kiss ME Baby and could see how the way the harmonies merge in would be very satisfying for a glassy eyed Wilson. I wonder, what would happen if Tony & Brian & Mary hung out again?  Cool Guy

Can't imagine that the reteaming of the above people here in 2011 would not yield something that would far eclipse Pet Sounds-and Smile for that matter-Isn't it about time that someone started heading back to the graveyard? Shocked

As Brian would say, Love and Mercy everybody!

As I've always understood, Brian started using marijuana during the making of Today!, before coming up with "California Girls."  The story "California Girls" has always been associated with an LSD trip of Brian's.

I could have sworn that Brian has said that "Please Let Me Wonder" was his first drug influenced song.

I read an interview where Brian said that he wrote a lot of the songs on Pet Sounds high (which we could've guessed). He said he'd get really stoned and play on the piano until he got in a groove. Then the chords would just come to him automagically.

They may be cranky, but they're right!!

p.s. The entire side two of 'Beach Boys Today' was influenced by pot!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Good point. I was just making an observation. Didn't mean to start a fight. Anyway, I'd love to see Brian work with Asher again. I think it would just be a blast to see what they could come up with.
