Reviewing AGD's website shows that there are a number of tracks worked on in 95 and some back in 85 that could potentially be re-worked which may have Carl on them with vocals for a new studio effort:

From 1995:
Dancin' The Night Away
Grace Of My Heart
Must Be A Miracle
Soul Searchin'
Turn On Your Love Light
It's Not Easy Being Me
You're Still A Mystery

From 1984/85:
Down By The Pier
Water Builds Up
And I Always Will
Oh Lord

I realize some of these have since been released, but have not had a very large audience, so potentially they could be re-worked for a Beach Boys release.  For the 84/85 stuff the instrumental tracks could be re-done to get rid of the 80s synth sound.

Just a thought.......

What's the point without Dennis' efforts also?

I'd've thought the BBs had access to a wealth of unreleased material featuring the voices of both Carl and Dennis.  This is the band that has been unreleasing material since the earlier '60s.  And even we sad bastard obsessives ain't heard it all…

True, but some of the stuff that we definitely want to hear like "Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live Again," I would prefer to leave untouched when and if it is finally released.

Well the BB's have never been above this sort of thing, my prediction is that for a reunion they'd include the "Do It Again" re-recording, maybe a couple new co-writes (maybe a bit ambitious), maybe 2 or 3 BB renditions of unreleased solo songs and the rest would be dug up from 95/96.

It's not THAT absurd, especially for the Beach Boys - just look at what they did with "When Girls Get Together" and company on KTSA ... ok maybe this isn't such a good idea.

I think "Oh, Lord" would be a brilliant song for them to go out on, I don't know how Brian would feel about revisiting that though, can't contain the most pleasant of memories.

I kinda started a thread like this about leftovers, let me find it and see what I can contribute.  Wink

Of course, every time I try to bring up the re-recording of a lot of material, some just out-right want new material and some think Brian wouldn't be interested in re-recording....I'd rather he just re-use riffs and such that he hasn't released yet...like what he did with Morning Beat (involving parts of Walkin' and Shortenin' Bread; BRILLIANT). But if there's some stuff to re-record that maybe Brian wants to be involved with, I wouldn't mind. Say Brian looks back at some material he wrote or produced but didn't play or sing on, perhaps he wants to supply something for it?

The songs I've bolded, have you heard these before?
Or are they just random songs thrown out from that era?

Alright, I figured I had the best with owning rarities and having the old mixes of stuff like Looking Down the Coast and such.

But then again I do wanna hear the involvement from the other BB and artists and worth the price for Don't Fight the Sea....btw, how was that recorded (or re-recorded), because I know Carl is on it and it originates from the late 70s. I actually wanna hear some Alec Baldwin doing some California Saga or whatever he reads.  Wink

I think the best idea for a new BB release would include previously unreleased songs like "(Wouldn't It Be Nice) To Live Again", "Where Is She?", and the "California Feelin'" demo from '74. I'd say the album could be all unreleased versions including a few new tracks. I don't think they need to put themselves through recording a whole new album unless they want to, so use stuff from the wealth they've gathered over the years.

But yeah, from the '80's and '90's I'd definitely say "Water Builds Up" and "Dancin' the Night Away" could definitely be put on a high quality release with some fix-up work.

Lastly, what is stuff like "Turn on Your Love Light" and "Grace of My Heart"? Actual songs the BB recorded in '95? Or BW solo? You know anything AGD?

I'm not AGD and he will undoubtedly add/subtract to this but:

1. "And everybody looks good tonight - so turn on your love lights tonight" are lyrics to "Concert Tonight" from the unreleased "Sweet Insanity album from 1991.

2. Connection to "Grace of My Heart" was a movie by that name with one of the characters modeled on Brian Wilson.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Loads of songs have the lyrics "turn on your love light"...

Anyway, I wasn't aware the BBs had recorded a version of Water Builds Up. I love that song. One of the best unreleased BW melodies out there. A full BB vocal production, the guys singing around two mics would be great.

Yea. Loads of songs have: 'sock it to me'. Did the Boys ever have had it socked to them?

I have a small forrection for the 1996 entry. Al Jardine was on the Des O Connor Tonight program with the rest of the group in 1996. I just watched it.

Sorry guys and gals but the idea of the BBs revisiting semi finished recordings from the 80's and 90's fills me with dread

They will all be compromises and its now 2011 and voices aren't as good as what they used to be.

If they went in and recorded an album of totally new high quality songs with top session guys (no not the current Wonderminty or Love Bruce things) then I might be interested.

Quality control is what I am seeking and a lot of those older songs haven't been released because they don't deserve to be
