Scratch Foskett and have Blondie and Ricky as "full members", which, you know, THEY WERE!

For the 50th, I'll hire:
Briiiiaaaannnn Willllssssoooonnnn!
Michael Love
Al Jardine
Dave Marks
Blondie Chaplin
Ricky Fataar
Bruce Johnston (if nothing else, he could wear white shorts and walk across the stage
clapping and waving at the audience).
Backup Musicians:
Billy Hinsche
Darian Sahanaja (guy with the funny hair)
Steady Eddie Carter
Matt Jardine
Jeff Foskett (CEO of Falsetto)
Scott Totten
Bobby Figueroa
Charles Lloyd
Richie Cannata
Daryl Dragon (invited but not expected to play)
John Stamos (eye candy for the women only)
Backgrounds:
Carnie and Wendy Wilson
The Honeys (maybe)
Swap out the guys below at your discretion:
John Cowsill (helluva drummer)
Scott Bennett (helluva guitar player)
Too many guys on stage will step on each others' toes so either different guys come out on stage
at various times or you gotta narrow down the lineup.

I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Don't forget about Bobby Figueroa.
Why not have all the band line-ups there... do one big concert with everybody there and film it... make it a film... give everybody an interview... different line-ups play certain songs... with a California coast in the background, this time... yes? no? maybe?

Double drumming from Fataar & Cowsill would be very cool. I once saw a show in Tempe, AZ in 74 I believe, and it was a rockin' affair with both Dennis & Ricky side by side on the kits.

Stamos has performed long enough with the Boy's to warrant inclusion.

That may be, but that had just as much to do with Mike, as Stamos. Still, he did a lot in the late 80's and 90's to keep the Boys' in the public eye and on TV.

My post is merely a compromise. As much as I would LOVE Blondie and Ricky to perform the whole show, they won't be asked to -- Blondie says that he would definitely play if asked. I'm trying to be as realistic as possible -- e.g. Stamos. Obviously no one on THIS board would have him on their personal shortlists; but it's a safe assumption that Mike would boot his own kid off the gig to make room for Stamos. It's a given that at the very least he'd be invited. As much as I'd love to see Ricky behind the drums, I seriously doubt there would be enough money in the budget to hire him for rehearsals and a full on production (he and Blondie are the few performers who have successful careers outside of the group.) As far as the kids -- Matt Jardine WAS part of the band, bottom line: Carnie & Wendy are Wilsons, and I'd trade just about everyone on the list to have Carl B. perform the entire show -- as he personally told me he would if asked. As far as special guests, there's no way that a show(s) would take place without them. Rolling Glen Campbell (and Gloria Loring) back up there just won't cut this time out.

Blondie's a Stone's throw from joining the Beach Boys' 50th reunion gig. Here he is warming up for it:

You know, to do a full-blown reunion concert or concerts, you'd really need Carl Wilson there to lead the band. Could Scott Totten fulfill this task of organizing and arranging if it were to happen? Pure speculation of course that there even would be a gig or two.....
And you gotta invite Van Dyke Parks, Tony Asher, and maybe, just maybe..........Jack Reilly to the festivities.

I think Scott Totten and Darian could easily produce a show that would make the majority of fans -- both casual and die-hard -- happy.

Scott Totten and Darian working together could create a real burner of a show. Billy Hinsche as a third mind to bounce ideas off is always good, too.
Darian and Billy always get lots of credit for their shaping of their respective groups' live sound, but Scott deserves just as much credit. Granted, as far as Michael and Bruce's band is concerned, Chris Farmer was instrumental in tightening up the band in 2004-07 (when they really needed to do it) when he was the musical director, but with Scott taking over as musical director the band has become even tighter than before. Don't let a few embarrassing TV performances distort your view of Michael and Bruce's group - they put on a damn fine show, whether it's a meat-and-potatoes show or an extended, more "fan-oriented" (for lack of a better term) show. You won't be disappointed.
