Still not clear to me who exactly is autographing the lithograph...

Rocky Pamplin and Phil Cohen.

It's probably safe to guess who is *not* autographing it, and I'd guess that name starts with "Van Dyke" and ends with "Parks". Grin

TOO FREAKING EXPENSIVE!!

I already have a certain Beach Boy's Autograph which I acquired on a Promo-poster which was only given to stores, so that 700$ box isn't gonna happen.

I think i'll stick with the 2CD set, a Tee, and later on, the full box. I'm a vinyl-holic :D

Don't need no autographs etc. Just want the boxset. How much will that be?

Nice idea with the fanvideo. But reminding of something similar for BWPS

Trust me, some folk on the Hoff, and on the Bloo, seriously thought the box set pic was faked.

Before it appeared on Amazon I too thought the pic was fake because there's a perspective mistake in the hardcover book. The book probably was for some reason unavailable at the time the photo was taken, and so a mock-up was created via Photoshop. Kind of an "official fake". Roll Eyes

Think I'll go with the 2CD set with autographed litograph for 99 bucks. And keep my box set order on Amazon.

Btw, that t-shirt looks sorta lame. I was expecting something a little more 60s California, a little more psychedelic if you will.

I agree, why couldn't they put the Frank Holmes shop design on it?  It looks like something that would be on one of Mike Love's hats.

seems like everything was pretty by the book when it comes to length.  and i guess that was expected.  i woulda liked a crazy long mix of heroes and villains and all that.

but there are some differences and i'm really interested in seeing what they are.  the extra time for song for children and my only sunshine have me crossin my fingers.

Quote from: Capitol press release
37. Psycodelic Sounds: Brian Falls Into A Microphone (11/4/66) (1:10)
38. Psycodelic Sounds: Moaning Laughing (11/4/66) (1:09)

Is this an alternate spelling for "Psychedelic"?

Read through the whole thing twice - two different sources for the same info - and just restating the fact that Van Dyke Parks does not seem to have been involved or at least isn't credited with participating in this new effort. VDP's doesn't have a signature maybe because it's an interview containing quotes rather than a personal memoir. If someone wants to post the "kicking a dead horse" emoticon, please go ahead, I know I'm pushing it but compare and contrast the differences between this and BWPS, related to Van Dyke's participation and the press releases surrounding it.

It would only be considered as "kicking a dead horse" if the horse was dead. The horse isn't dead. I think we should definitely get answers to this. Van Dyke Parks was/is an intergal part of SMiLE. He wrote most of the damn lyrics! He should be acknowledged with credits up the wazoo in this package, and no-brainer, should be interviewed extensively. Even most of the Wrecking Crew were interviewed for the book that came inside the Pet Sounds box.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Bruce didn't participate much in the Smile saga.  Wouldn't smoke dope, get in the tent, the sandbox, or crawl on the floor making animal noises, so he didn't fit in.

Eh I hope the "SMiLE" book strays far from the "Pet Sounds" book.  I agree with those who have said in the past that a lot of the write ups in the "Pet Sounds" book take the tone of eulogy.  Again as someone said up the chain for now the only reason we can assume that Van Dyke didn't do a write up for this set is because he didn't want to.  I'm sure we'll find out down the line if something more nefarious than that went on but quite frankly I don't see this as a huge deal.

All true...

At the end of the day, though, there's Bruce's voice, clear as a bell, "won won won"-ing at the end of Wonderful.  In other words, he's singing on the freakin' Smile album.  And no one can take that away from him.  Go, Bruce!
