19.  Good Vibrations (4:13) - that ain't the single then

Nope. It has the exact same length as the purple chich version with the "hummm bee dow" section added in.

Here is the official press release form Capitol/EMI. Lots of additional information in this. Be sure to read everything!

http://www.examiner.com/beach-boys-in-national/smile-official-press-release-from-capitol-emi-special-editions-info-unveiled

Read through the whole thing twice - two different sources for the same info - and just restating the fact that Van Dyke Parks does not seem to have been involved or at least isn't credited with participating in this new effort.

Without getting into the debating over it, I'm just curious as a fan what the reasons might be. And if it's too "back room" to mention publicly, that's cool. It is very surprising, as mentioned before, yet no firm answers have been offered in the 24 hours since we brought it up yesterday. Pure curiosity at work.

It's worth mentioning again because as some have noted here, replace the omission of Van Dyke with "Mike Love" or "Frank Holmes", and I have the feeling all hell would be breaking loose and people would be asking why.

1. Maybe all Van Dyke's quotes were old ones. It doesn't say he isn't quoted etc... just that he didn't contribute a new essay to the box.
2. Maybe Van Dyke declined to contribute anything new.
3. Maybe he wrote an essay and it was vetoed by someone higher up...

I would have liked something from him to celebrate this special occasion...

I think we're mistaken and that the booklet has a full page of VDP's words, directly opposite that full page pic seen in the video of the 60-page booklet.

Brian's page carries Brian's signature, prob cos it's written (or ghost written?) as first-person.

VDP's doesn't have a signature maybe because it's an interview containing quotes rather than a personal memoir.

To be frank (not Frank), it's impossible to read at that resolution so all we can do is guess and our best bet is to wait-see.

I think it'll come up smelling of roses. Everything thus far smells of rose-perfumed roses from Roseland.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

The SMiLE Sessions box set will include details about Operation Smile, an international medical charity organization with a presence in more than 60 countries dedicated to healing children's smiles. Since 1982, Operation Smile - through the help of generous supporters and medical volunteers - has provided free surgeries worldwide for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lips and cleft palates. Every three minutes, a child somewhere in the world is born with a cleft. For more information on how to be involved or donate to Operation Smile, please visit www.operationsmile.org or call 1-888-OPSMILE (888-677-6453).

Asking about the initial reaction - doesn't it at least raise an eyebrow and lead to a question "why?" when the press releases for this project name-check nearly everyone you would expect from the "Vosse Posse" to Frank Holmes to Diane Rovell to Danny Hutton, yet the co-creator isn't listed among them?

Cheesy If someone wants to post the "kicking a dead horse" emoticon, please go ahead, I know I'm pushing it but compare and contrast the differences between this and BWPS, related to Van Dyke's participation and the press releases surrounding it.

- The SMiLE Sessions 2CD edition paired with a limited edition autographed lithograph = 99.99$

- The SMiLE Sessions limited edition box set with light-up SMiLE Shop window on lid, autographed = 699.99$!

- The SMiLE Sessions limited edition box set with light-up SMiLE Shop window on lid, autographed, paired with a custom-made SMiLE surfboard by Hobie = 5999.99$ !!

I guess the surfboard edition is out of the question...  and so is the light-up one.
Guess the t-shirt one will have to do...

Think I'll go with the 2CD set with autographed litograph for 99 bucks. And keep my box set order on Amazon.

Btw, that t-shirt looks sorta lame. I was expecting something a little more 60s California, a little more psychedelic if you will.

Surprised that in it's long drawn out history someone hasn't used this monicker as a title of a bootleg.  Still it's a cool thing that The Beach Boys are doing teaming with this charity.

They don't have the shirt in Small? Looks like I'm gonna have to bulk up.

It's getting real tricky to keep tabs on what versions to get. I know I want the box-set but now I think I want the 2CD version too (I want that elusive pin) and maybe the vinyl-only one. Thank God for student loans  police
