Screw Jeff, I'm seeing Brian twice in September and I'll have the iphone out

Prepare to get jumped after the show by Jeff & Probyn.

Like how to stop looking as self-conscious as Mike Love playing the woo-woo machine? I kid, I kid.

This is what happens when you stay sober too long. You turn into Jeff.

No.

Also, this is my favorite picture of Jeff:

In order to understand the reasons and be fair about it, has he ever been asked about this issue? I'm thinking there has to be a reason why he seems to take the recording/filming of Brian's shows by fans, as well as which items Brian is going to sign, so personally. It's as if he's acting as a supervisor or a police officer. How many musicians would love to be on stage *ONE TIME* playing that music with Brian, even for one song, one verse, whatever, and the guy living out that dream comes off like he has a grudge against fans who have cameras...DURING A SHOW!

Like the others who witnessed this past or present, it kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth to see this happen at a BW show where the fans are showing so much love and respect for the guy on stage.

This is a reasonably recent development - back in the first half of last decade, he was cool with it. During an RFH encore, I was trying to get a shot of him and Paul doing a Bruce & Clarence (stage front), he saw me, I made the "move closer" sign, he smiled and did. He also did a very nice thing at the BW gig I was at a couple of weeks after my mom died, unprompted, and for that I'll always be grateful.

Heh....as a former user of Amiga computers (from 1993 to 2006), I used to frequent Amiga message boards and mailing lists, and a frequent question would be, "When's the new version of Amiga OS coming out?" "When is the new Amiga coming out?" The response was always: "When it's done." I think we need something like that in the BB fan community. Smiley

I'd guess the signing things might be a problem if fans are sticking them on ebay immediately afterwards? That's the only thing I can imagine - I think it's what drove Ringo over the edge in his 'warning' video (peace & love).

The thing that bothered me about Jeff's behavior was the fact that in certain situations, Brian seemed cool with what was going on, until Jeff jumped in and made a scene.  It seems more like he's feeding his ego by "protecting" Brian, than actualy assisting Brian.

And I have to agree, Probyn is a very cool guy and easy to talk to.

Jeff did this at the concert I went to as well, along with Paul Mertens. It was embarrassing for the band but even more embarrassing that it seems built into the repertoire of the performance. You could tell that like Darian and Bennett were distancing themselves from the tirade that, in fact, interrupted Brian's introduction to his next song.

Strange...in St. Charles, nobody...but nobody...made an attempt to stop anybody from taking pictures - and this is after the guy who apparently is in charge of the shows made an intro speech that included "no recording, no photography." Heck, in Toronto, people were running up to the front of the stage to snap pictures of Brian and the band. I'm the only person I know of who got stopped -- only because the usher told me I was blocking the aisle. So I moved over a few feet.

So why are they so uptight about photography etc. now, especially given that fan pictures and videos are shared by whoever runs BW's Facebook page? The only thing I can think of is maybe Brian's eyes were particularly weak or something that night, and they wanted to make sure he wouldn't get temporarily blinded by bright flashes, rendering him unable to see his prompter clearly...I dunno...

Heh..on my FB page I have a picture with Jeff, me, and maybe one or two other guys...he removed the tag from it a year or so ago....

At the concert that I went to, it wasn't about photography so much as it was about video.

Small point I'd like to make here - absolutely no need for flash in the first place. The stage lights are more than sufficient, even without upping the ASA rating to 200-400. Took the following at the RFH, 2/20/04 on a three-year-old 2.1MP Olympus, set to auto from about row 6.

OK, not outstanding, but all taken without flash.

Thing though, AGD, is that a lot...a LOT...of people aren't bright enough (pun not intended, but glad I just realized the punnery!) to realize that the flash is unneccessary
Agreed. Heck, even without the flash, the Mrs. couldn't get a good photo of Brian to save her life -- the spotlight on him was too freakin' bright.
