That's an interesting prospect but he's REALLY a half assed member, so we can't count him.  Glen Campbell, as much as I love him, is *still* screwed up, whereas Mike/Brianetc. have came to the conclusion that they're too old to be assholes anymore. Smiley  I think.  I heard an interview Glen did with Bill Anderson a few years back, he was blaming all of his woes on Tanya Tucker and a bartender who had recently 'over served' him.  Kind of sad, really.

Glen?  He's really talented, I imagine he'll still sound good when he dies with a bottle in his hand.  Probably while driving.   I love that video they play from time to time of him doing Witchita Lineman live in concert, he was such a great guitar player imho.  Always had a nice tone dialed in and voice led everything.  Simple stuff but played so beautifully.

That's nothing. I consider Bruce a member, but not Al, and David Marks was there during the '70s in my book.

Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar wrote songs for The Beach Boys that were on a Beach Boys record and that they played the instruments on and sang the song, appeared in videos, ect.. they actually did much more than some of the members that are considered part of the band did, but they didn't stay that long.. so is that the only argument to call them half Beach Boys ?

If they are a Beach Boy on a Beach Boys LP then they are a Beach Boy period. That gives us Mike, Carl, Dennis, Al, Dave, Brian, Ricky, Blondie, and Bruce. Glen did take a few photos as a group member, and acted as one briefly on stage, but he never sang or wrote anything of note on a Beach Boys record.

Bruce - in various videos and documentaries his attitudes to one or another subject seem to me rather multichangeable which I find very strange. Also consider him quite insincere person in spite of his friendly look. Shortly, there's a mystery around him imo.

I also feel this. From the outside he is smiles and cuddles, but he obviously got in a fight with the group in 1971 so that he left(or was kicked)
He didnt go to the live show in Hawaii in 1967 showing that there was clearly a rift between him and the group.

LA Light was done with him more or less producing everything. Bruce, were you jelly of Dennis and diminished his effort by turning down the intro volume of Love Surrounds Me? Why did you do that Bruce? I see no reason!

Also Bruce showed his temper when he dicusses that politics thing recently. Mitt Romney The Asshole, and Barack Obama The Socialist Black Guy.
I'm pretty sure Bruce yearns for living in the all-white community on Cape Cod that he always sings about in his sugary songs. Was he against the civil rights movement? did he leave the group because its music was becoming more jimi hendrix influenced rock rather than the pop they had always done and suddenly Carl brought Blondie to join the band?
He's prob a huge advocate of having the border fence with Mexico and hates minorities from Latin countries, and black people.

Sorry if this was direct. But please tell me how I can conclude to anything else given the pieces of evidence?  Grin

Pretty bold assumptions about a guy based on him having money and saying he not doesn't approve of Obama, Socialism (he never said anything about him being black) (he also trashed Mitt Romney, also a white Republican with money) in what should have been a private conversation with a few fans.

By definition, I think you have to be a little whacked out to be in the BBs. The question is, are any of them NOT a little whacked out? I'd say Brian, Mike, and Dennis all exhibited "out there" behavior at various times.

What an absolutely vile rant. There was nothing related to the president's race in Bruce's comments, which he's perfectly entitled to whether you agree or not. It's highly irresponsible and deeply insulting to project all the above sh*t on him with absolutely no basis whatsoever. You're the bigot here, I think.

God help you if you're not 15, writing nonsense like that.

It makes sense that you'd be a little whacked out as a member of the Beach Boys. Carl probably had the best excuse, and he's one of the LEAST whacked out. He basically never had an adolescence/was essentially a child star. He was recording/touring from the time he was 15 on. Gotta be a bit of a strange life.

Vile, indeed.  One might check out the Cape Cod demographics first.  It is not all white.  I have spent considerable time there for over 28 years.

And Romney was my governor, who authored a health care plan which was the model for Obama care.  Deval Patrick, the current gov, does a great deal of work for the President. (I do think that it cheaper to keep people healthy, preventatively, than to pay for long term health care for catastrophic, preventable disease. )  Otherwise it is penny wise and pound foolish.  Romney wants to distance himself from his own program.  Problem? Ya.  I think his wife, Ann would make a great First Lady.  But, to get her, we'd have to have Mitt.  No thanks.

And this political chatter should be with the thread in The (infamous) Sandbox.

This is America.  We can articulate our opinions.  Even Mr. Johnston.   Wink

Rock and Roll is a "rough-and-tumble" business.
