I'm sorry, but I just turned the damn thing off. That was awful. Al was OK but disengaged from the others, the backing musicians didn't seem into it, Mike had no energy, Bruce was negligible. I hate to make this a Brian Vs. Them thing, but when you see this compared to Brian's live show - even his poorer ones - geez, I can see why he stayed away.

A 50th anniversary tour in this state would be a sorry affair indeed. Mike looks like he's got nothing left to give. Give us a boxset and a documentary I say, instead of parading this sad soulless zombie band around under the banner of what should be one of the most loved and respected bands of all time.

Imagine watching this as a non-fan. Someone who only has a passing acquaintance with the Beach Boys through radio. Seriously, what would you be thinking.

Personally, I think they sound GREAT. Kokomo isn't exactly a favorite, but even that was really well done. I really hope they keep performing together! Welcome back, Al!

Mike seems to be getting more energized as the show goes on imo.

It seems like Al doesn't want to be there. Mike looked over to him and smiled, and Al was facing the keyboard.
disagree. Seems happy to me.

Mike sounds almost better than when I saw them in 1992.

They are definitely more energetic than when the show started. Mike looked like he was asleep in the beginning.

Overall, not a bad set.

Picked up near the end. Also:
Audience: ENCORE!
Beach Boys: NOPE! BEDTIME!

To bad it wasn't a full concert. They started to sound pretty damn good near the end.  Smiley

Al seemed to be having some problems with his guitar. He kept on fiddling with his amp and whenever he didn't have to sing he was facing the amp.

But overall, this was awesome. Al's presence makes the band so much more authentic. Even just hearing him say "Michael Edward!" at the end of Kokomo made it better. I saw Matt Jardine in the background, he should've played the congas when Stamos wasn't, that would've be really cool.

Some thoughts:

*It was great hearing Al in the vocal blend.
*Bruce sounded good.
*They were by far the most dignified act of the night, and a good deal more dignified than they usually are nowadays.
*They looked at least somewhat happy to be together again.
*I seriously gotta wonder what's making Mike Love's voice sound so bad - old age isn't much of a reason given how much better Brian and Al sound.

Mike looked like he was unwell at the beginning, but he got better.
So good to see Al there, he really makes the difference.  And so did Matt Jardine.

Give him 37 years or so. He'll get the settings just right.

Great to see Al up there with them.  I had the crappiest experience with that stream though, it was like I was on dial-up.  Hope it ends up on youtube.

I'm glad they didn't make a point of announcing a "reunion" with Al. Al was, is, and always will be a Beach Boy. I'm glad that they didn't try to "seperate" Al from them.

I thought both Mike and Al looked they had a good time. And yeah, Rhonda was great! Certainly worth staying up until 6:20.
