A friend of mine is a big Ramones fan and I always was jelaous at his t-shirt! So yesterday I made the version I posted!
And hey... the photshopping was not THAT bad!?

So let's have a poll - Who wants MURRY to stay in the circle for final version?

And this is the button I'll be wearing to the Gershwin gig to make sure I get beaten up by blueboarders...

HOW THE f*** DO YOU KNOW MY DAD! YOU MUST BE STALKING ME! GET THE HELL AWAY FROM M...

Wait, I'm not the Christian you're referring to, am I?

Sorry about that, my mistake. On the subject of the shirt, it is awesome and I want one. Keep Murry on the final shirt, he's a genius too.

I do think the shirt would look more stylish if it would be white on black instead of black on white. Just like most of the Ramones shirts.

Are the black bars where you'll be putting images of the BBs?

The black bars are the logo of Black Flag, another legendary punk band.

You consider the BBs a punk band?  or is that in reference to the ramonees?

No, but I hear them get called that a lot when "I Get Around" is involved.

The Beach Boys weren't punk just because they had a few energetic rock 'n' roll songs, or because they influenced punk bands like the Ramones, the Queers and the Travoltas. Punk is raw, dirty, stripped down, rebellious, aggressive, bratty, opinionated... The Beach Boys were none of these things - or at least their music wasn't. Whenever I'm listening to music it's usually either The Beach Boys or punk rock, and to me personally these two always felt like exact opposites. But maybe that's just me.

i think you'll find moments in the Beach Boys canon that fit every one of those descriptions.

surfers may have been the original "punks" and the boys started out as a garage band banging out three chords.

there's a reason bands like the Ramones and the Queers look up so highly to the Beach Boys!

Like I said, I guess it's partially a personal thing. I got very heavily into punk rock when I was 16. I bought every essential punk rock record I could find, I played in punk rock bands (at times even in three bands at once), I wrote for punk rock fanzines and never listened to anything else than punk rock. After about ten years of investing pretty much all of my spare time into punk rock I got the need for an antidote. And I found it in The Beach Boys' music. It offered all the beauty, refinement, richness, elegance, softness, depth, peacefulness, diversity, warmth, creativity and dreaminess that I had missed during my steady diet of punk rock. So personally I find it very hard to see The Beach Boys as punk rock.

obviously i can see how the Beach Boys could be considered the anti-punk rock band too.

but i think at their roots they were pretty raw and aggressive. and i think Smiley Smile, Wild Honey, etc. have some punk elements as well.

I really like the white on black version -- I'd buy one, too!

I'd also buy it on a deep saturated color... Pacific Ocean blue, for example. Grin

What the hell's Murry on there for?  Otherwise a cool shirt!

Without him, the other three wouldn't have existed. And all of us would have a life.

Yeah, white on black is the way to go, and I agree that Murry needs to be on there.  Why?  It just fits in a bizarre way.  (Plus it fills in the circle better on the graphic.) Most importantly, it was Murry himself, masquerading on this board as Reggie Dunbar, who came up with the idea in the first place.
