Hi All!

So I am planning to have my BB cover album out this fall (yay!) but I would like everyone's input on this.
I'm wondering if I should sell a hard copy of the album or if people would more likely just by the digital copy? Or both.

It's hard to gauge so I hope this helps me a bit Smiley
Also feel free to offer any other input, I like hearing people's thoughts..most of the time  Razz

So let me know, for this album would you...

A- Buy a hard copy (C.D)
B- Buy the album digitally
C- Buy single tracks (digital)

THANKS!!!

Personally, much prefer a CD in the hand to a file on the desktop, but if the latter makes more economic sense, that's cool too. Put me down for one whatever.

Whichever, liner notes/credits are a must.

I'm also more in favour of a CD but realise that a downloadable version is probably the more financially viable way for you to go. If you go the download route you could include downloadable liner notes, album & CD art that people could print out and if they burn the album onto a CD-R and have a spare jewel case then voilà, they'll have a CD! Just a thought.

Can I also suggest that you do a cover of With Me Tonight, I think you'd do a great version of it.

We're both in Alberta so shipping wouldn't be an issues. I would buy a hard copy.

I'd buy a digital version.

I don't care much about the 'hard copy' - I just want it to be of a high bit rate.

And I totally agree with Paulos - With Me Tonight we be a great one to include....As well as a version of Sloop John B  Grin

Can't wait to hear it!

I'm with AGD, either way is cool with me.  Having loved your other BB covers, I can't wait to hear this!

I also third the nomination of "With Me Tonight."  Grin

Great news!  Count me in for a purchase and like AGD I want liner notes and I would like album art (maybe you can recreate a BB cover?)

Would love to hear you do a version of Dennis' "Only With You" and the title track from the Wild Honey album.

I'm too old and set in my ways.  I'd definitely prefer a hard copy C.D.

If it's not available on vinyl, I'm not buying it at all.

But an 8 Track tape release would be really cool too.

Record all of the material acoustically onto wax cylinders, then distribute them in ridiculously small pressings -- say, fifty -- and cut it off there. No more. That would be monstrously indie -- plus you'd need to buy the equipment to play them too! LOL

All the indie kids are putting out cassettes these days Tongue

I would be fine with a download - looking forward to it!

I understand that it might be easier for you to just put it out digitally but I would prefer (by some distance) to have a physical CD copy.

I'd prefer a cd (with credits), but would still purchase a download if that was all that was available (at least 320kbps please).

I enjoy your stuff and look forward to hearing a whole album.

Not sure what city you are in, but I am in Calgary and play in a couple of bands in quite a few places around town.  If you ever need help looking for places to play live or to have a cd release party I'd be happy to help out.

Cheers,
Rich

I'd prefer a digital album.

Can't wait to hear the final results - have enjoyed all the covers so far!

Noooo, if you're going to go digital, at least offer your album in GLORIOUS FLAC. Maybe try seeing if Zunior.com will take you up on digital distribution; as I recall they're a Canadian company who distributes primarily Canadian artists, signed or otherwise. For non-Canadians, maybe go through CD Baby or something, although I don't think they offer FLAC downloads...

My CD purchases have declined significantly during the past few years.  Instead I'm much more likely to purchase individual track downloads of my favorite stuff on an album.

But, that being said, Kayla, I love your stuff, so in your case I'd prefer a CD.  (But, few CDs seem to be released these days with out also being available as digital downloads, including individual tracks.)

Whatever format you go for, I'm definitely in as a purchaser.

(But please don't even consider doing Smart Girls!  Hope that request was in jest!  And, yeah, you'd do a great job on With Me Tonight.)

Sounds like quite a few people will buy CD's so will do them but I will also have it available digitally.
It also sounds like a lot of people want to hear with me tonight. Sounds good Smiley

Thanks for your input everyone!

So bad news. After further research I've found it would cost me a few hundred dollars to create a cover album.

At this time I cannot afford to make it Sad I will continue to do BB covers and I appreciate everyone's comments and support!!

Here's another video if your interested Smiley

Awwww, Kayla, let's embrace the times as they are: compile an album digitally, or even sequence the songs/videos on Youtube or something, so we can all sit back and listen in your intended context.

I would certainly pay for a digital copy! Would be honored too.

Of course, I'd die for a nice slab of lovely vinyl, or even a CD, but, ya know, we're all corks in the ocean, floating over the raging sea! Let's be thankful we have this digital medium to communicate/create in!
