Not a question, just an observation...
Watching Wes Anderson's (excellent) Fantastic Mr Fox on TV earlier. It incorporates several Beach Boys songs brilliantly on the soundtrack, the songs fit the action on screen perfectly.
If you haven't seen it - watch. Can't think of a film in which their music is better used. American Graffiti perhaps?
It's pretty cool. Do It Again works beautifully in Happy Feet, as for Getcha Back in Herbie:Fully Loaded...
And Feel Flows works Almost Famous amazingly (twice! Plus the Pet Sounds album gets a cameo) and I always loved Surfin USA on Teen Wolf!

Ok, here are a few random questions about different subject matters. Just some stuff I figured I'll ask now before I forget.
1. Is that Brian singing backing vocals on American Spring's version of "Thinkin' "Bout You Baby"?
2. What ever became of Crystal McGovern? Has she ever commented on Dennis, or that last day on the Emerald?
3. Did anybody find the large box that Dennis was no doubt looking for on his last dive off of the Emerald?

Sounds like 100% Brian to me on that part, going "Thinkin' bout my my baby baby" towards the end. I've been listening to this album frequently lately and never realized how Brian is sporadically heard on several songs vocally on the album. Mainly that one, possibly Tennessee Waltz, I read Sweet Mountain as well (which is hard to believe he does the bass vocal at the end but apparently he does), and I hear a bit of him on "Everybody" doing subtle highs on the background vocal layer. I can't remember if there's anything else I've heard him in, but it's nice to hear his voice if you listen closely on some of the tracks.

I can see how it'd be him but it doesn't sound like him much. He's doing a lower register voice deliberately though so I understand that. Although I don't know if "came on de mountain" part, which is sung a little louder than the bass vocal is David Sandler or not. That doesn't sound like Brian to me.

I believe that's been said to be David Sandler. Definitely not Brian.
The bass vocal has that nifty little child-like quality to it on the bass vocal, though, never sounded off to me. Just me just me just me.

Brian is the third 'lead' on the final verse, and also the "rained on de mountain/de mountain of lurve" vocal. According to Marilyn.

At the end of that clip, there's footage of the BB's performing on the 4th of July in 1983, and Dennis performing "You Are So Beautiful".
Does anyone know where that full concert is available to watch?

Dennis didn't do YASB at the July 4th show. That was a bit of "Creative editing"(more like butchering) done by whoever did An American Band. They took a July 4th show and inserted the Dennis footage from another show. Those are some interesting comments by Carli Munoz.

Yeah it seems as though Carli thinks Jon is trying to say he was there. Maybe he hasn't seen the whole documentary and is taking it out of context.

FWIW, for
years
I thought it was Mike doing the vocals on 'Love to Say Dada' before I found out it was Brian.

Okay, so if it wasn't from the 4th of July 1983 show, then what was it from?
Also where would I be able to view the full show?

Anybody know what type of musical instrument and possible recording studio manipulation is creating the sparkly sounds at 0:25 and 0:29 on "A Time To Live In Dreams?" Such a cool effect that jumps out given the sparse production! Some sort of mallet instrument manipulated? Bueller?

What was the height of the band's in-concert unpopularity? I was shocked in going through AGD's site that they were playing venues like the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom back in 1969.

Probably late 1968-1969 in the US - this was when they once drew just 200 at The Corn Palace, Mitchell SD, Thanksgiving 1969

I've always wondered why there's, even after 52 years after all, so little high res live concerts or recordings from the band? Like from the 70's, is there a single good quality film of one (whole) concert? I bet there has to be somewhere, but why anything hasn't been released? I'd also like to see more from the early 80's, when Dennis was still with them. And of course the two last concerts last year from London. Both were filmed and at least the Wembley one with MANY cameras.

Has anyone else listened to the recording of BAD at Highland Park from last year and slapped their forehead at the lady asking where John Stamos is at the beginning of "Summer's Gone"?

Wow, can I see a link for that? What was the date on the show? Assuming Summer's Gone is the encore/last song of the set, that's pretty late in the show to observe that.

Did Brian write the lyrics and melody to "At My Window"? That was always a song I was confused about. I know the backing track was originally a cover of "Raspberries And Strawberries", an idea by Al, but I never found out what Al did and what Brian did to get a credit on this particular song after it was redeveloped and released. It's just such a beautiful track and the lyrics sound like Brian's creation, but it's something that is usually always just attributed as an Al song for some reason.

Was Ding Dang actually recorded in 1976? It definitely sounds more like a Love You cut than an early 70s cut. Where does that Autumn 1973 date come from?
