Probably most of us have seen photos from this shoot, which looks like to be from 1966. Two questions:

1. Where's Al? (obviously it's not the first time Al missed a photo shoot)

2. More interestingly, who is the sixth guy?

Have I missed something crucial, or might it be Al hiding under that hat?

Can't really answer the question beyond the obvious, that's it's either Al in the hat, or some other dude we'll probably never know. This shoot did remind me of another one from a vaguely similar era, where it looks like Carl wears a vaguely similar shirt, though apparently without pockets (maybe he was just into yellow in that era):

Didn't that old Lorren Schwarz Daro wear a hat like that back in the day? Or was it Vosse?

I have to think it's not Al. I think there are other photos from this same shoot, and you never see his face in any of them. It would be one thing for Al to clown around in one photo, but not all of them.

Also the arm is way too fat and has lots of dark hair.

If anyone gets the chance to talk to Al Jardine soon, please ask him whatever happened to that monkey!  LOL

On our way through this "backstage" maze, Bruce joined up with the group and said hello, singing "It Never Rains in Southern California" and joking with some of the older ladies. I'm not sure if they knew he was a Beach Boy or simply an enthusiastic elderly gay gentleman.

It might just be the light reflecting off of his collar, but the guy with the hat kinda looks like he has a white beard.

Also, some of the outfits in my reference drawing psd came out of these pictures.  The layers are labled "Yellow Day" because they're all wearing yellow.  Although Mike's yellow is approaching cream.

If you're thinking of this hat (http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n295/guitarfool2002/vossevegetables_zps571cb835.jpg),
it's Vosse; and not the same hat.

Nah. Steve Korthoff was too skinny and lanky to have that arm.

I've seen a lot of photos of Steve and wouldn't describe him as skinny or lanky

Actually, I think I misidentified him. Perhaps you're right!

Edited to add: I tracked down a photo of S. Korthoff and, yes!, he appears to be the right height, weight, hairiness, etc. and he was around during that period and was proximate in other photo shoots. But, the guy in the photo above is wearing a wedding band and SK was not wearing one in the photo I found. Any knowledge if he was married at that time?

Is there a more specific time for the SMiLE Tracklist Memo than early December 1966?

When was Frank Holmes hired and given info on what album was intended to be?

Does anyone know if Love You instrumentals/backing tracks are out there? I would love to hear. Haven't been able to find online.

Everytime I've seen this otherwise particularly nice photo, it has that white blob on Brian's face. Was it released as a publicity photo with the white blob? What's up with that?

truly insignificant, but bugging me anyway.

Well I'll be damned if it's not AGD.

Has anyone else seen this smudge defect on the Smile Sessions LP?

I purchased one via a seller on eBay and it arrived with the smudge. I returned it. Simultaneously, I ordered a replacement via Amazon and it too had the same smudge. I was planning to get it signed next week during the VIP event in New Buffalo, but decided on a different item due to my bad luck with two defective LPs...
