It's probably the best Brian moment of the whole TLOS experience. And Brian's not using a teleprompter (which is probably why he screws upo the lyrics to Calif Girls... only been singing 'em for 43 years now lad, he'll get it right someday soon!).

This really makes me wish they would have included a complete cover of "That Lucky Old Sun" on the CD as a bonus track. The transition from the intro with the stacked vocals to the second up-tempo part of the song is just magical. It sounds as good as anything Brian did during SMiLE, if you ask me. It definitely kicks "Old Master Painter" in the butt, splattering his palette on the ground.

Brian is singing very well these days.
The song 'TLOS' is in a register that he sounds very comfortable in, and this performance, sitting in the back of a taxi, kicks the arse off his studio vocals on GIOMH.

I think the band singing backing vocals on the first verse might've confused him. |

I agree, it is. Wish they would put it out as a single just like that. Now why didn't Brian's manager come up with that idea?  Loved that video, reminded me a lot of the "Lost Hotel Tape". |
