Happy Birthday Brian!

And production aside, Id so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

BRIAN DOUGLAS WILSON
June 20th 1942
Maria Elena and The Buddy Holly Education Foundation are thrilled and proud Brian has graciously accepted our invitation to recieve a very special Buddy inspired guitar. This particular instrument, titled "Everyday"was first presented to the late, great Ventures guitarist,Nokie Edwards, who was a wonderful supporter and Ambassador for TBHEF.
Brian was a huge fan of Nokie and The Ventures.
More details to follow later.
In the meantime we wish Brian, the incomparable music icon,a wonderful birthday with family and friends.
Here's a few stunning all-time classics from the great artist and his Beach Boy colleagues.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

- Lester Bangs on The Beach Boys

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Fantastic!
Happy birthday, Brian, and many, many more.
I just went to the FB page, and they also have a message for Paul from two days ago. I can't help but notice that Brian's is way more gushy.  LOL   I love them both, but Brian is incomparable.

From Mike's Facebook page :

Dear Cousin Brian,

I hope you are enjoying your birthday today. Its been a long time. I remember us singing Everly Brothers songs together and writing so many songs that still bring so much joy to so many people for so many years. The RPO album is the latest success in a long career that you can be proud of. The greatest feeling knows the happiness that so many have enjoyed as a result what weve done together.
I hope that wherever you are, you will be celebrating with the knowledge that literally millions of people have spent many happy hours listening to the music that you were such an important part of creating. In addition to all that, know that I, your first cousin have always and will always Love you!

Happy Birthday Brian!
Peace & Love,
Mike

Short notice: the cat you see to the left is the best. Not counting your indoor cat who might have habit sitting at your left side when you post at SmileySmile.

Droopy & Snoopy, respectively ugly & cute dogs, swapped places in cartoon history which brought havoc to either side.

At Halloween, Smiley posters should be disguised with smiley face masks. PS posters should be in green-brown costumes & each member imitates by mouth their favorite sounds. Easy, ain't it?

WELCOME INTO THE BUDDY HOLLY EDUCATIONAL FAMILY
BRIAN Douglas WILSON
Your "PET SOUNDS" made the world "SMILE"
Today,we are honoured to celebrate one of the most important guitar presentations for Maria Elena and The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation.
The creative genius that brings us all such joy, with his masterful songs, productions and arrangements, has graciously accepted our Buddy inspired "Everyday" guitar, once played on a wonderful instrumental recording of "Everyday" by the late, great Nokie Edwards.
As Maria Elena confirms,Buddy would be immensely proud an artist with so many amazing musical attributes loved his music too.
Here's a few timeless classic masterpieces from the maestro, followed by Nokie's version of "Everyday" and ending with a particular Buddy favourite of Brian's.

GOOD VIBRATIONS - DON'T WORRY BABY - THE WARMTH OF THE SUN - HEROES AND VILLAINS - GOD ONLY KNOWS - EVERYDAY (NOKIE EDWARDS) - RAVE ON (BUDDY HOLLY)

Agreed!

Cool guitar. I know Gary Busey has the original in the 80's. And then I believe somebody took the original frets and made a series of replicas that each included an original fret. Not sure if this one is from the same series or not.

Buddy really was one of the first guys to take charge of his own stuff in the studio, and Brian kinda took that to the next level, so there is definitely a connection.
